I tossed and turned, trying to not imagine Dottie desperately calling for my help, but it didn't work.
"Alpha! Help me!"
Urgh! Go away dumb thoughts!
"Aph, are you okay?" I heard someone call behind me.
I turned to face the opening of the tent. "You we're thinking out loud," said Aaron.
I sighed. He closed the tent, crawling toward me and hugging me from behind, adjusting himself.
"Go away," I told him, even though I didn't want him to.
He didn't reply, he just sat there, hugging me and resting his head on my neck. My eyes suddenly felt extraordinarily heavy, and I fell asleep in his arms.
-
I woke up, half expecting myself to be dead, based purely off of the fact I was so deeply in sleep.
"Aaron?" I asked, feeling him arms wrapped tightly around me.
He nodded his head, still keeping his eyes closed, clearly not in the mood to wake up yet.
"Y-Your arms are kind of tight," I said quietly.
But he didn't let go, only loosened a small bit, letting me be comfortable. I relaxed and fell back asleep.
-
I woke up to the sound of growling, but not one I've heard before. A loud sound. An angry sound. A dangerous sound. Aaron was still asleep, being a deep sleeper.
She's heard of it somewhere, through the radio in the old cave back home.
But where?
She kept listening, but the sound only got louder, and scarier. By now, everyone around was awake, but not completely alert.
Tornado. Oh, oh no, this is not good.
"Everyone wake up! There's a tornado-" and right after I finished saying that, the tent came blowing down, Aaron jumping in front of me.
He was trying to protect me, but it would do no use. We needed to try running.
We hopped out of the tent, trying to get everyone to come, but they couldn't hear us.
We ran, until we found safety in a small cave, one that seemed to have collapsed a little bit ago. We kept close to the edge, just in case it would collapse under some extra pressure.
Taking deep breaths, I tried taking in what was going on. Left my pack, no resources, no path back, I was all alone with Aaron.
Soon after, the tornado left, after savagely ruining the forest behind it. We didn't dare to come back up after a little of waiting, in case the tornado felt it didn't finish it's job.
But thankful we waited, thunder and rain came, and I wondered what was happening to pack. Are they okay?
Aaron hugged me, calming my nerves. I took a deep breath, closing my eyes but not daring to fall asleep.
-
"Where is she!"
"I don't know where she is, Michael," I said frantically, trying wiggle out of the ropes on my arms.
"Then I guess, if you won't tell us what you saw, you can watch from hell," he said, my eyes wide opened.
"M-Michael, truly, I don't know," I said, my life flashing before my eyes.
"Lies!" and it all went black.
-
We woke up, and I immediately got out of the cave we crashed in, searching for and opening, any to lead us back to camp.
God, why didn't I stop her from running?
