Chapter 18

Gaston's POV

Time Skip... Six months Later...

There was a ceremony held today in my honor for graduation from my remedial goodness classes. I'm allowed to continue living here in the castle with Lefou but I'm officially deemed a better man in the eyes of Adam and everyone else, especially Adam. I was awarded with a blue ribbon and a certificate that students normally receive when graduating a certain grade level. It's cheesy but I'm proud of my accomplishments. I also really do feel like a changed man. I wouldn't have been able to do this without Lefou. If it weren't for Lefou, I'd still be the same villain that I was for a long time.

Right now, we're all eating lunch in the dining room. There's the biggest spread of food that I've ever seen since moving into the castle. There must be twenty different entrees, ten different snacks, fifteen different kinds of dessert treats, and ten drink options. It's a little overwhelming to be honest... I don't feel worthy of this excess luxury. It's as if Lefou is reading my mind because he takes my hands in his and squeezes them gently. "Gaston, you are worthy of all of this and more. You've come such a long way and everyone is gathered here to celebrate this victory." I tear up. "T-Thank you Lefou. I love you so much." He smiles back softly at me. "I love you too Gaston and I'm so damn proud of you."

As we all munch and dine on the mass array of food before us, I do something that surprises everyone... I get down on one knee. I bought an engagement ring a couple months ago when I was down in the village before dusk. Adam accompanied me actually. I wasn't planning on buying this particular ring but it drew me in. It was the one that I knew that I needed to propose to the love of my life with. I hear many audible gasps as I stare up into Lefou's eyes. I take a shaky breath and begin the speech I've rehearsed in my head a hundred times, hoping it comes out as well as it sounded in my mind.

"Lefou, even though we've only been dating for less than a year, we've been best friends forever. Besides myself, you're the other person I know inside and out. Despite my many mistakes, you never abandoned me. Even when everyone else turned their back on me, you refused to. Your constant support for me meant the world, even though it took me a long time to truly appreciate it. I love you so much. You're the most beautiful human being inside and out. You have a heart of pure gold and are compassionate towards everyone you meet, which I of course love about you. I could gush about you for days on end but I know that people will run out of patience if I did. With that being said, Lefou, will you marry me?"

Lefou sheds a few tears but nods through them, giving me permission to slide the engagement ring onto his finger. He then envelops me into a warm embrace and cheers erupt all around us. A few pictures are snapped of us and are instantly developed. Lefou and I each receive a few copies to insert inside of photo frames. What a touching sentiment, one that I'll cherish for a very long time. I'm just elated to finally be able to refer to Lefou as my fiance and soon my husband. This is an absolute dream come true. This lunch also then turns into an engagement celebration as well as a celebration for me being a good guy now.
