Kitty Kats Back

The walk back to Auradon was quite. My heels clicked on the bridge as I strutted back. The sun was rising and the tops of castles glistened. I stepped onto Auradon soil and headed back to the tree by Bens office to return the button. I climbed up and stepped on the branch.
"Damn it." I cursed to myself when I saw Ben sitting in his chair biting his nails.

I retreated back a little when a part of the branch snapped. Ben turned around and I used one useful part of my DNA and thought hard about disappearing.
"Kitty? Kitty!" Ben said opening the window. I stayed silent hopefully making him think he's gone mad.
"I can still see you. Well part of you." Ben said through the open window.
I groaned and showed myself.

"What are you doing?" He asked chuckling in relief.
I pulled the button from my boot and handed it out to him. He stared at it with wide eyes and gulped.
"I've been looking for this.." he said. "Where'd you find it?" He asked rhetorically.
"I'm your desk." I said nodding to his drawer. He laughed and held his hand out. I dropped the key in his hand and he put it back in the drawer.

"Do you want to come in?" He asked motioning in.
"I don't bite." He said holding his hand out. "Well not in Ben form, beast form though, no promises."
I tried not to smile and he pushed his hand out further. I took his hand and and jumped on the ledge of the window sill and crept into his office once again.
Ben motioned to a chair and I took a seat.

"Do you believe in love?" I asked Ben lightly clawing at the strings on the stitching of the chair. He huffed and rubbed the back of his neck.
"Well yeah." He said. "I mean my parents did beat a curse with love. Love brought Chads parents together, to find the shoe that fits. Sandy's dad saved her mom with true loves kiss, same with Audrey's parents."
"Well sure it exists here, but what about on the Isle? Do you think there's love there." I asked again looking at him.

He sat at the edge of his desk. "Well you're here right? And Mal, and Evie, Jay and Carlos."
I nodded.
"Is that why you went back?"
"Is this an interagation?" I asked.
Ben laughed and shook his head no. "I just want to make sure, as your soon to be King, that you're happy here. My intentions were never to break whatever you had back there."
"You didn't." I said shaking my head. "You can't leave anything if you have nothing. You brought me here with all I needed. I know that now."
"Just took a trip back?"
"It took getting my heart shattered." I said sharply.

"I'm sorry." I said to him. "I didn't mean to be all claws out."
"No no it's fine. I shouldn't push my boundaries."
"I should probably go. See the others." I said heading back to the window.
"You can use the door you know?" Ben said gently grabbing my arm. I flinched hard but relaxed when I realized he wasn't going to hurt me.
"Force of habit." I said turning around.
"Your majesty." I said bowing as I exited.

I left the building and headed towards the dorms.
I took a deep breath and and unlocked the door.
"Oh you sneaky alley cat!" Evie said running toward me. She wrapped her arms around me almost knocking me over.
"I'm sorry about your wall..." I started off. "And for sneaking off, and for not being honest.. and for a lot of things."
"I was this close for putting catnip outside the door to get your tail back here." Carlos said from behind.

"What the hell happened?!" Mal said hugging me.
"I needed a business run." I said wiggling the pack of cigarettes.
"Uh huh." Mal said sitting in her bed and eyeing Evie.
"You are terrible liar." Mal said rolling her tongue. "We know it's about Harry. Evie blurted."
Evie gasped.
"I know. I was in the tree that night I left."
"Just a filthy pirate." Jay said and I shook my head.
"Just a stupid pussy cat." I said flopping on my bed, which was replaced with new comforters and pillows.

They looked at me puzzled. "I went to go see about the lighthouse. I went to the chip shoppe. Cherry was there. Looking for him." I said picking at my nails.
"A. Filthy. Pirate." Jay said shaking my shoulders.
"We need to focus on our lives here. Well always be the kids from the Isle. But we're here now." Evie said. "And no more going back to the Isle alone. Safety in numbers. Anything could have happened."
"I know." I said sighing.

We headed down to breakfast together and then broke off to class.
"Hey Kitty.." a voice called from behind me. I turned around to a tanned boy trotting towards me.
"Who's that?" I questioned.
"That's Adrian. Aladdin and Jasmine son." Evie said.
"Hey um I know you haven't been in Chemistry, but we're lab partners so I just wanted to give you.." He handed me a stack of papers.
"We're going to head off." Mal said awkwardly and Evie chuckled girlishly and they both ran off leaving me with Adrian.

"Uh you wanna walk to class together?" He asked me. I nodded and continued walking. He caught up quickly and tried making small conversation.
"Sooo.." he said.
"Sooo.." I said back mockingly.
"Aha! So she does talk!" I laughed lightly.
"Yes. As a matter of fact I do."
"I like your accent." He said to me. A small dimple popped in his right cheek and I felt my cheeks get warm.
"Northern England." I said. "That's where I'm form, originally." I said.
"Agrabah." Adrian said. "You should see it one day. I have a tiger."
"Ah yes." I said laughing. "So you're a cat person?"
"I uh I guess I am huh?"

We arrived to the chemistry lab and Adrian directed me towards the table I guess we are assigned to. He pulled the seat out for me and sat in the one next to me.
Class went on and everything went over my head. I desperately looked to Adrian for the answers. He scooted his paper over to me a little and I jotted down the answers quickly, moving it back.
At the end of class I slithered out quickly avoiding any hold backs from the teacher.

"Hey wait up!" Adrian said as I meet up with Evie.
"Mm" I said turning around. Evie nudged me in the ribs giggling again.
"Would you want to sit with me and a few friends at dinner later tonight?" He asked.
"Of course she would!" Evie piped up. "No need to worry bout us though." She said.
"You guys can join too, if you want?" Adrian suggested.
"It's a date!" Evie said grabbing me by the arm.

"We need to get you dressed!" She said closing the dorm room door.
"Nothing like a cute outfit and pair of shoes to get your mind off.." she trailed off looking at me sympathetically.
I shook my head letting her know it was okay.
"To get my mind off a filthy pirate." I said.
"Besides," she said bumping her hip with mine, "we're Auradon girls now. We have princes."

But I liked pirates.

"You're right." I tell her.

"Let's get you ready Kitty Kat!"
