Harry's POV
It's been not even a day and the waiting is killing me. Patience was not my forte. I was around town, running errands for Uma and picking up the money. My mind was elsewhere.

My last stop was at Lady Tremanies beauty shop and the little bugger had headphones in and awkwardly danced while sweeping the hairy floor.
"Fork et ova ya runt." I said picking up one side of the headphones. She groaned and went over to the cash register. I hooked a piece of candy from a jar and placed it between my teeth as she handed me over ma payments.

I counted the bills as I walked back to the chip shoppe when several dark silhouettes cane towards my direction. I was in the back alley alone by Gaston's Golden Gym and I knew I was screwed.
I twirled my hook ready to fight when they came into light.

"Harry Hook?" One asked.
"And who the hell might yeh be?" I asked pointing my hook at him.
He showcased his badge and I looked at it and then looked back at him.
"Yer Auradon guards aren't yeh." I laughed mischievously.
"Indeed. And you need to come with us." He said grabbing for my arm.

I snatched my arm from his grip and hooked him when all the guards drew their swords at me. "Heh heh!" I said letting him go and holding my hands up in defense.
"And why might I come with yeh?" I asked shunning my hook on my jacket.
"Kitty Kat." He said.

My head snapped to him and I felt the color leave me.
"What did yeh say?" I asked in an almost whisper.
"Kitty Kat." He repeated.
"Yeh dare say her name!" I yelled and grabbed him by the shiny collar. Next thing I knew guards were pulling me off of him.
"What did yeh do to her!" I yelled not letting go of him. "If I see as so much as a scratch on her I'll break this barrier down meself! I'll come for your kingdoms and I'll wear Bens crown too!" I said devilishly.

After a struggle, The guards held me back with my arms behind me and pressed down on my shoulders until I was on my knees.
"Your majesty requests your presence about the matter." He said looking down at me.
"Get him up."
"Ugh!" I grunted as they lowered my head into the limo.
I was cuffed and silenced as the barrier came down. I was too nervous to even admire the scenery.

I was then pulled out and directed down long corridors and perfectly polished decor until I was stopped at large wooden doors. The guards knocked and from beyond I heard, "Come in." The doors were opened and I was shoved into a large oval office with King Ben sitting at a large desk with loads of paper surrounding him.

"Harry Hook." He said coming from behind.
"King Benny." I said as he stuck his hand out to me.
"Oh I would love too!" I said sarcastically. "But I'm a little tied up."
"Uncuff him!" Ben said and the shackles fell to the floor as I cracked my wrists.
"One wrong move and your chances here are long gone you filthy pirate." The guard said in my ear.

"Kitty went back to the Isle to see you, didn't she."
"And how might yeh know that?" I questioned poking around the room. He held up the bottle and wiggled it at me.
"That's not meant for yeh mate." I said starting to get mad.
"I know." He said. "She read it. That's why you're here you see?"
"No. I don't." I said back at him.
"She asked me to invite you over here."
"Oh yeah? She snuck out once why wouldn't she do it again, if this were the case?" I asked not believing him.
"Because she knows better now."
"Yeh can take the garl out the Isle but yeh can't take the Isle outta the garl." I said snickering at him.

"You think I'm lying to you or something?" Ben asked.
"Why would yeh, King Benny! Do something for a vilain?"
"Because she's my friend." He said and I couldn't help but choke out a laugh.
"Yeh think I'm talking bout yeh doin a favor for her? I'm talkin bout me!" I shouted.
"What? Since I saved you the trouble of trying to break in?"
I looked at him in disbelief. He read the bloody letter.
"No need to break in if yeh just let us! And that wasn't very nice of yeh to read that." I said mocking him.

Ben straightened up and became tense. I was definitely a threat to him.
"I didn't mean to take her away. You weren't mentioned at the appeal-"
"Oh no! I wasn't?" I pretended to be shocked. "No no no. Yeh didn't just take her from me, yeh took everything!" I said slamming my hands on his desk. "Instead, yeh never let her get the chance to bargain. Made her choose between brother and love." I said bitterly. "She would lose either way."

"She's thriving here!" He said defensively.
"Oh really? That's why she snuck past all your guards to come back to the Isle."
Silence.

"Yeh know what hurt more than the fact she was leaving?" I asked him calmly. He just shook his head no and I inhaled deeply, remembering how I felt when I found out, after she left. "That she chose to bargain for Carlos over me." I said looking out the window.

A knock on the door and the sweet sound of her voice cane from outside.
"Ben? Mal said you had to tell me something what is it? We're all heading down to the tourney field. Jay challenged Carlos.. Hey! Open up!" Oh her sound. Her gentle Britishness.

The guards opened the door and her smiled wiped off.
"Harry?" She said in disbelief.
"Hiya love." I said with a pathetic chuckle.
"What uh what is this?" She said looking to Ben. I just shook my head because I didn't know either.
"I wanted to make sure you didn't do something stupid again." Ben said to her, referring to the sneaking off.

She looked different. Her body suit was replaced with a pink flowy top and purple jeans her hair was up, which I had never seen it like before. She was glowing. Long eyelashes fluttered and her lips parted and her bony arms held books to her chest. Her foot tapped in anxiousness, she was still wearing those tall shoes at least.

"The letter?!" I asked. "Did yeh read it?" She nodded her head.
"And..?" I asked moving towards her until guards held swords out in front of me blocking me from her. She snarked at them barring her fangs.
"We deserve a soft epilogue my love. We're good people, and we've suffered enough. I'm sorry I couldn't save yeh, please forgive me." I said to her as the swords moved.

"Thank you for seeing museums in me when I saw empty hallways. I was there, yet I was not there. I was rage. I was a child." She said with her voice breaking. She turned to Ben. His lip quivered and his eyes watered.
She inhaled sharply. And steady her shaky breathing.
"I will break every fuckin clock to prove we are not bad timing." I said to her and her cheek fell in the palm of my hand.

Ben chimes in. "It's not your fault for being broken, that's what we're trying to fix here..." and she barked out a laugh. "I was not beautifully broken, I was ripped to shreds by the very ones who were supposed to keep me together."
"Look Ben," she said. "As much as you wish, you won't have a clue what happened to us back there. As hard as you try, you won't know shit about what we've been through. To survive."
"You are not the heaviness sitting inside you. You are not the battlefield where bodies fall, and you are not the sounds of cannons breaking the sky open. We are what happens after the war. The surviving, the healing, the rebuilding." He said to us.

"It's time to wrap it up." A guard said. "What? No! We're not done yet. I'm not done yet!" I said.  A guard cuffed me again and began to pull me away from her.
"Ben! Tell them to stop please!" She said running out of the office back to me.

Stepping back out into the sun I tried to fight free. "I forgive you Harry!" She said from behind. She followed to the limo and pushed her way through. "Let me have this!" She said shielding me with her small self. They bowed to her as I rested with my back against the car.

She cupped my cheeks in her hands and they weren't cold like how I remembered. They were soft and warm and they felt like home.
"I have ended wars single handily. Brought Gods broken to their knees. Dragged the very lights of the skies to the ground. But my greatest victory was that I was what sparked your smiles." She said crying. "I'll come back for you. This won't be how it ends."

"I can loose fucking everything. But not you, oh God not you." I said.
"You have to go now." She said placing a warm kiss on my forehead. "I can feel you forgetting me." I said.
"I couldn't if I tried." She said.

The last thing she said to me before she was taken from me again was soft and in an whisper.
"This may be a sad chapter, but we are not a sad story. Go now. Or we'll ruin each other."

I was shoved back into the limo and I couldn't scream loud enough. I could struggle hard enough to get back to her. It can't end like this. I won't let it. Better creatures can love her I know, but my love wears a warning sign. And they'll have to get through me. I'm not done fighting for her. I'm not done making up for my mistakes.

In the end it will be us.
