Grief

Kittys POV
The guards guided me back to the limo when Harry called for me from behind.
"Hey Kit!" I turned around and felt a little defeated and upset and I just wanted to crawl into my bed in my dorm and sleep.
"Mm" I said turning to him.
"You okay love? I know things have been left unsaid between yeh two and yeh never really talked about what uh happened." He said checking up on me.

"Can you guys just give us a minute?" I asked the guards and they all yes m'amed me and waited in the limo.
I shook my head and buried my face in my hands. I groaned out loud.
"It's so frustrating and hard when you give someone everything and you try so hard with them and they just take and take and take. I didn't want to leave her or our friendship. It was important to me it still is! But I needed to care for myself too." I said. "What was I supposed to do Harry?"

"Yeh did enough love. Yeh can't save everyone. Sometimes people don't want to be saved yeh know? Before yeh heal someone yeh have to ask them if they're willing to give up what makes them sick." He said to me patting my hair. I purred a little bit and smiled at him.
"Do you think I'm a coward?" I asked him nervously.
"I think we all are." He said laughing. "I mean we hate our parents. All of us. But we still try so hard for their approval and beg for their love. We hate everyone who lives in Auradon but we all want to live there and be accepted by them."

He was right. Seeing it in this perspective was all new to me. Hearing it outloud and from someone else just made it click more for me. "But yehr not a coward for leaving a toxic friendship to save yehrself."
"I hate leaving you." I said. "Never gets easier."
"Maybe I'll just.." He said as he opened the trunk and lifted his leg to climb in. I laughed and I pulled him by his strong arms back to me. "Nooo!" I said dramatically. "I promise you. I'll get you over there. Uma and Gil too."

"And we'll get that ship." He said smiling. "Damn right." I said giddy that he remembered our plans we use to make.
"Alright love." He said rubbing my shoulders. "Yehr chariot awaits." He pointed to the limo. I gave him a hug and held on really tight.
"It's always the highlight to see yeh love." He said as we broke apart.

"I'll be back!" I said as I opened to the door. "I'll be waiting!" He said as I climbed in. The limo started and we drove back to Auradon. I couldn't wait to vent to Evie and Mal about my interaction with Cherry. Although I loved Harry's input, I needed my girls input too.

I thanked the driver and the guards and met Mal and Evie by a fountain.
"Hey!" Evie said putting her pen down.
"How was the Isle?" Mal asked.
"Still smells." I said jokingly. Evie patted the edge of the fountain and I sat down between them. I picked at my nails and hesitated on how to start the conversation.
"I uh.. I kind of had a run in with Cherry..." I finally said.
"Wh-What happened?" Evie said as they both got fully invested.

"I bugged out on her. She started saying all this shit about me leaving her in hard times and how I was a coward because I depended on all of you guys and just ugh!" I said groaning wishing I had said more. But all the things Inshould have said are just coming to me now.

"What did you say to her? You know that's not true! She refused to help herself! She can't blame you." Mal said in disbelief.
"I told her that she broke my heart." I said shrugging and kicking rocks at my feet. "She was my sister too. You know? I wanted her out of her situation too but I just have no clue what more I could've done for her."
"I don't think you could've done anything more." Evie said.

I sighed. Everyone keeps saying that. "I just feel guilty that I was able to get out, and she didn't." I said honestly.
"But you wanted to leave. Do you really believe that Cherry wanted out as bad as you?" Mal asked and I had never thought about it that way. "She wants to play victim. But you and us, have given her opportunity after opportunity to stay with us and she just made all these excuses all the time." Mal said brutally, but honest.

I internally agreed when Evie changed the subject. "Sooo.." she said smiling. "Did you see Harry?" My heart fluttered at his name and the sound of his voice still fresh in my ears.
"Yess!" I said happily. "It felt like normal days you know. He remembered about the ship that he said he'd get when we both would be over here." I said motioning around us.

"Do you think Cherry maybe reaches out to Harry when all that shit happened to get back at you?" Mal asked not making eye contact with me.
I thought hard. I don't know what made her connect the dots with this fucked up situation but, it made sense.
"I mean it's kind of like me and Uma. I didn't let her join the crew and as soon as we left to come here, she took over our old territory. What she desperately wanted to be a part of." Mal continued.
"It would make sense." Evie said shrugging. "Like, Harry wasn't necessarily someone she wanted because she likes him, but I think she likes the thought of him being yours, then taking it from you."

It did make sense. But it was hard for me to come to terms with tha fact that someone who I thought would be around for my whole life, would want to just hurt me on purpose. Cherry was a hot head and she was angry, like all of us, but I don't want to believe she would do it. But I guess she did.

"But she didn't." I said. "She just keeps hurting herself."

Don't hurt yourself.

"What up? What up?" Jay said from behind us with Carlos.
"Hey" We all said at the same time. I looked to the girls wondering if we should recap again and ask the boys opinions.
"What's up with you guys?" Carlos said rustling my hair. I hissed at him and he laughed.
"I got a question for you boys." I said crossing my arms.
"Shoot." Jay said.
"If you and an old friend had a huge falling out, and they went somewhere else, but where you were was still something that they cared about or was important to them, would you take it?"

They looked at me puzzled and stuttered trying to comprehend the question.
"Uh well um I don't uhhhh.." Carlos mumbled. "Ugh! Incompetents! Do you think Cherry went onto Harry purposely because of him and Kittys relationship?" Mal blurted our and I elbowed her in the ribs.
"Sounds like her. She is kind of a devil." Jay said nodding his head.

I put a fresh cigarette in between my lips and lit it up inhaling deeply.
"What's this all about? What made you think of her?" Carlos asked squaring in front of me and Evie.
"I kind of saw Cherry and I guess all the tension from over the years just exploded." I said rubbing my forehead in frustration. "I just kept yelling and she kept yelling. But it feels like nothing was resolved." I said squinting up to Jay.

"You even ready to talk about it fully?" he asked. "I mean we know some stuff but you never wanted to talk about the full story."
"How much time you guys have?" I asked lookinga round at all of them.
"However much you need." Evie said smiling.
