An Unhappy Ending

I sat there with my friends and we started to goof off and make jokes. The dinner bell rang and we all sighed. We sat at the edge of Auradon now and looked to the Isle.
"We had to fight like hell everyday. And fighting like hell made us who we are." Mal said. We all silently agreed and turned our back on the Isle, again.

Carlos barked about his grade in pre calculus and talked about how he's never going to need it in real life so why does it matter, when I saw Adrian waiting by the doors.
God damn it. Adrian.

"Hey!" He said walking towards us. Jay and Carlos laughed to each other and Evie smacked them on their arms shushing them.
"Hey." I said nervously.
We walked in silence to our usual table and I was smacking myself in my head.
"Good trip back?" Ben said randomly standing up.
"Yeah. Got everything I needed. And then sum." I said the last part under my breath to Evie.
"Good. Good." Ben said sitting back down with the rest of us.

Dinner was so awkward. It just consisted of Ben trying to make conversation but the air was thick I couldn't breathe.
"You okay?" Adrian asked me. And my ears started ringing and my vision was tunneling in.

Evies POV
"You okay?" Adrian said and I looked to my left and I've seen that look before.
"She's going down." I said and I held Kitty up under her arm as Carlos did the same to the left, pushing Adrian nearly out of his seat.
"Hands are shaking." Carlos said and Mal was soon behind her petting her hair down. "You're okay. You're okay."
"What's going on?" Fairy Godmother said rushing to the scene.
"She's fine. Just give us some space." Mal said.
"Do I need to get the nurse?" Adrian asked.
Kittys hand started shaking and she looked at me and her breathing was uneven and I just nodded at her.
"T-t-this h-hasn-nt hap-p-pen s-s-so l-l-long-g." She said stuttering.

"It's okay. You've gotten through it before. You'll get through it now." Jay said kneeling in front of her.
"T-t-they're l-l-lookin-g-g" She said. And she was right all eyes were on her.
Mals eyes turned greener than ever and said.
"Until we get her stable, freeze all except this table!"
A loud crack and everyone around us was still.

Mal held onto Kittys hand as she squeezed tightly.
"What triggered it?" Mal mouthed to me.
I looked sideways to Adrian. It was my best guess.
"H-he's n-near. I f-f-feel it."
She stuttered. And I stand corrected.
We all looked at each other in complete disbelief.
"Kitty no. He's not. There's no way. He's on the Isle where he belongs." Carlos said.
"Who's she talking about?" Ben asked.
"Her dad." Carlos replied still with us by her side.

Ben moved from his seat in between me and the table.
"Hey. It's alright. I promise you he's not here. I can send some guards to go and confirm.."
"No!" She protested. "He can d-disappear. S-sneak right p-p-past them."
"What can I do to make you feel safe?" Ben asked concerned and clearly out of suggestions.

She started to calm down and the shaking stopped. She had an idea but saying it outloud in front of everyone would mean that she would have to go through with it. And that terrifies the hell out of her.
"I need to face him." She said.
This was not what I was expecting. None of us expected this.
"I can do that." Ben said to her.
She inhaled and exhaled dramatically and one last big shake halted her body.
"Well set up a meeting okay? He'll be chained up and shackled he won't touch you."
"I'd like to see him try." She said.

"Do you think this is going to go well?" I asked her and she turned to me.
"I don't know. But if I don't stand up to him once he'll always keep haunting me. The fact that I let him get away with so much haunts me."
It made sense. Slay your demons.

"Would you want Harry there?" Ben asked and the death glares were real. Mal shook her head and Jay and Carlos sighed deeply.
"How bout tomrrow? 12:00?" Ben said quickly and we all looked to her and when she nodded, so did we.

We got up from the table and Kitty was as little unsteady on her feet and once we left the dinning hall, another loud crack and the remaining people unfroze and looked around in confusion.

Once back in the dorm room I shut the door and sighed heavily.
"What are you going to say?" Mal asked.
Kitty sat on her bed and shrugged.
"Dunno. I mean I can play and rehears what I'm going to say but it never turns out like that. I don't know how I'll feel face to face with him."

"Just don't do anything that will get you sent back to the Isle." I said and she laughed.
"I thought I was when Ben mentioned Harry in front of Adrian."
"Oh shit yeah!" Mal said laughing wickedly.
"What are you going to do about that?!"
"Let me take one problem at a time please or my head will explode."
"This is all insane." I said laughing and sitting back on Kittys bed next to her.

"Just imagine when Harry gets to Auradon and meets Adrain." Mal said shaking her head and sitting on my bed facing us.
"Well.." Kitty said nervously smirking. "I haven't actually told Harry anything about Adrian."
"I mean what's there to tell?! Nothing ever even happened!" She said in defense.
"You two went on a date!" Mal said and when all started laughing.
"There was no date! The thing by the lake was just like hanging out!"
"Alone!" I said shoving her.
"Ugh! What he doesn't know won't hurt him. And besides! Harry and I were on a teeny break at the time."
"Whatever makes you feel better sis." Mal said and Kitty threw a pillow at her.

It felt good to see Kitty all giddy and happy. Happy Kitty was my favorite Kitty. She is part of my favorite memories. Kitty moved into the loft when she was 10ish? And me and Mal both changed for the better when she stayed with us. No matter what was going on she's always been so selfless. Life would be so different, I would be so different without Kitty. She knows how to make me laugh when I cry how to say the right thing and how to understand what's wrong when I'm too sad to speak.

She deserves this. She deserves this closure. She deserves peace. She's my sister, and she deserves to be happy.
