'Ambulance'-Chapter 23

Rusty's POV:

I slid my sword out from Phil's torso and he faded into nothingness, dust, into the wind never to be seen again. I flew back to where my girlfriend and her family were and sat back down onto the concrete path. Pink immediately held my hand biting her lip and holding Kaylee on her lap with her spare hand.

"It's done," I said emotionlessly.

Kaylee's POV:

I look back at my best friend Alex one last time while I sat on Pink's lap to tightly holding onto her and Rusty. As I look at Alex I see something that would almost be impossible... His chest faintly going up and down. I without explaining what I was doing, I got up and went close to Alex putting my head on his chest.

I mumble something that no one could make out.

"What was that Kaylee?" Rusty asked.

"He's alive, barely I think!" I smile with tears streaming from my eyes in hopes my best friend should live after all.

Rusty crawled over and put his ear against Alex's chest hearing crackling breathing sounds Rusty's face began to lighten up as he heard the noise of life.

"PINK CALL AN AMBULANCE!" Rusty demanded. And without hesitation, Pink did so.

Pink's POV:

Once Kaylee told us he was alive I've never experienced so much relief and happiness in my life! While the phone rang for the ambulance I told Rusty to summon one of his healing potions to stabilize Alex for now until the paramedics get here.

"911 what's your emergency?" A man answered with a calm tone.

"Hi my friend fell off a two-story building on accident trying to fix the roof and he fell on a concrete surface we thought he was dead as he wasn't moving or anything but he's breathing could you send someone over?!" I explain with a little lie.

"What is the address of your location?" He calmly asked.

I was quick to respond "63 Rightwoods Lane"

"We'll send someone down immediately" he informed.
I ended the call and I was still crying but with joy... My friend is going to live after all. I thought. OH WAIT! I reminded my self.

"Rusty!"

"Yeah" Rusty replied.

"Change into your human skin" I reminded him before the paramedics came.

He looked down and his arms in front of him.

"Oh yeah.."

Rusty closed his eyes and started to fade into his human form. My Mom looked shocked and fascinated by Rusty, but my Dad looked furious.
He stormed over to Rusty who had just finished is the transformation I pulled Rusty up dragging him behind me while I stood in between Rusty and my Dad with my arms folded and giving him a stern look which my Dad also gave to me.

"Move" My Farther angrily demanded of me.

"No" I growled.

"You defend this thing?!" He was yelled in shocked.

"This 'thing' is my boyfriend" I began to grow angry.

"No, he's not I forbid you!" My Dad raged.

I held one of Rusty's hand behind me. Tears almost escaping my eyes.

"YES HE IS AND WE HAVEN'T GOT TIME FOR THIS ONE OF MY BEST FRIENDS ARE DYING AND YOUR FUSSING ABOUT WHO I LOVE?!" I scream with a few tears rolling down my eyes in anger. My Dad took a step back in shock and what looked like realization on his face. He felt bad...

From the corner of my eye, I see Blue and red lights just making it through the trees along the muddy trail leading up to the house. I turned my head and I ran to the end of the driveway and onto a fence and pointed the ambulance to the house. They parked their van and practically flew out the doors to rush towards Alex. A few minutes passed and they were putting a kneck brace on Alex and breathing equipment

"W-Will he be ok?!" My mother questioned with a worried tone.

Rusty held me by my waist pulling me close to him while I leant on him biting my lip waiting for a positive result.

There was no response from the paramedics for a minute until one looked up at all of us. She looked at us straight-faced...

"Were not sure. For the time being, he's ok but It's not good..." She replied. "He'll need emergency surgery on his spine but it looks like he's barely holding onto life. We're going to take him to Lack Wood hospital and take him through to the ER. I'll see you there". She walked off getting into the ambulance. We saw Alex being taken away on a bed and in the ambulance.

I turned to hug Rusty as I started to motherly cry over Alex. Rusty rubbed my back stroking my hair softly trying to calm me down. My mother walked up to us and Rusty gave me to her to hold.

"Let's go..." Rusty quietly spoke with a sad tone. He held my hand and we walked to the car to drive to the hospital.

Rusty sat into the driver's seat as I was too overwhelmed to drive.

Kaylee's POV:

I watched as Pink and Rusty went into the car just sitting there for a second. I held my Moms hand and asked...

"Mommy can I go visit Alex please". I ask with tears rolling down my eyes. My mother was too distraught to talk and nodded letting my hand go and quickly kissing me on my forehead. I jogged to the stationary car and opened to door.

"Is it ok if I can come?" I request with a sniff.

Pink nodded her head holding her hand out to the back of the car to help me in. I closed the door and waved goodbye to my parents which the waved back to, as we drove away to the hospital to see Alex.
