'Stress of a loss'- Chapter 24

No one's POV:

Pink and Rusty were in the car with Kaylee in the back seat listening to her music with her eyes glued shut. 

Pink was on her phone scrolling through photos that she didn't even know she had of Alex but they were taken without her knowledge. Alex had stolen her phone taking pictures of himself doing funny faces with Rusty. Pink had the tiniest lift from the corner of her lips but quickly went down. She turned to look at her boyfriend who was driving the car to the hospital. He had his normal plain face on, emotionless.

"Rusty, c-can you predicted the f-future?" Pink questioned her boyfriend with a small chance of hope skipping in her mind.

Rusty let out a quiet sigh of disappointment. "No... Sorry..." He apologized.

"I-It's ok, just wanted to know..." Pink saddened the only spark of hope in this situation disappeared as if it had never existed.

"it's my fault..." Rusty mumbled.

"What?" Pink asked in confusion.

"It's my fault he's dying..." A tear rolled down Rusty's cheek. "I should've caught him!" 

"HAY!" Pink snapped. "It's not your fault! It's Phil's... And he's gone now... We're safe, Alex will... He will be ok" Pink's tone softened reassuring Rusty. He smiled not looking away from the road.

Time Skip...

Kaylee's POV:

I open my eyes at the feel of a car breaking and seat belts unbuckling. I take out my headphones and was quick to take my seat belt off. I opened the car door slamming it and the sounds of two other doors shutting follow behind mine.

"Let's go," Rusty said holding out his hand to hold Pinks.

I reached out for Rusty's dangling hand and softly held it. I looked up and at the same time, Rusty looked down and smiled sweetly at me. I wasn't scared of Rusty... I felt safe, Like an older brother. He held back onto my hand and we walked into the entrance to the ER and up to the front desk.

"Hi, we're here to see Alex Peppacheni" Pink eagerly spoke. The lady raised an eyebrow probably from the last name... At least Alex isn't related to the top mafia boss or we'd all be screwed...  I laughed to myself at the thought, trying to make myself a little happier of the situation.

"Names," The women asked calmly.

"Rusty... um, McRuskins" Rusty responded.

"Pink and Kaylee Diamond". I also responded

"Room 246, I'll inform the Doctor that you're here" The receptionist replied.

"Thank you" Pink gratefully responded and turned to me and Rusty a beckoning us to follow her.

We walked for a bit and went upstairs to what seems to look like a privet family waiting room and waited there for a few hours waiting for a doctor to come and talk to us about Alex's condition.

Rusty's POV:

A few hours had passed and we waited for the doctor or nurse to come in and talk to me and Pink. Kaylee got exhausted and fell asleep on my lap. Pink noticed that Kaylee fell asleep on my and awed at the sight which I smiled too. Pink got up and found a big clean nearby blanket hanging over one of the chairs and wrapped it around all of us. I held Pink's hand rubbing it with my thumb slowly as she rested her head gently on my shoulder. I placed my head on her head and kissed the top of her head.

"You ok?" She asked quietly, staring straight ahead at the wall in front.

"Yeah, you?" I question in a soft tone looking down at her. 

She looked up at me and replied. "Yeah" a sudden pause. for a cute yawn" I love you"

"Love you too," I said sweetly. 

Pink then cosied up to me and looked up and lent in for a kiss which I gave. We smiled at each other. At that moment the Doctor walked in with her coat flying behind her as she entered the privet family room. Pink and I were quick to turn towards her.

"How is he?!" I eagerly awaited an answer...
