We made it to the area, and Grandpa Fernos stopped and looked at me. His eyes were a deep red, and his face was slowly peeling away to show the demon underneath. He stayed silent, waiting for me to release him and let him destroy the area that we were in.
Cromwell shifted on his feet, and I could tell that he was nervous and confused. He had no idea why my grandfather was watching me while his face slowly peeled away and not let the feral side of him take control.
I gestured with my head for him to do what he needed to do. "Go ahead," I said, and my grandfather smiled, his teeth lengthening until they were sharp and point. I folded my arms across my chest and watched him let the beast inside of him have control over their shared body.
Grandpa Fernos roared in anger while he grew until he was ten feet tall with his whole body growing stockier and covered in thick red scales. A tail and wings appeared in their normal places followed by horns on the top of his head while his ears grew pointer. Again, my grandfather roared out his frustration before he started to tear the place apart, throwing stuff every which way.
Cromwell cursed underneath his breath and moved his hand when a large tree came in our direction, splitting it into two before it could hit us. He bit back scowl and narrowed his eyes, and I could tell that he was annoyed with his brother for doing that.
"Told you," I said while another tree came in our direction, but Cromwell made sure that it didn't hit us. I kept my eyes on my grandfather while he roared his anger and kept destroying the whole area. "This is why I brought you here because I knew that you would be able to use magic to make sure that they wouldn't hit us."
"Aren't you worried that I'd use my powers against you?" Cromwell asked. He pulled me to the side when a large chunk of the ground was torn and thrown into our direction.
"Nope," I replied, making sure that I was not behind Cromwell but by his side. I glanced up at him from the corner of my eye to see that he was staring at me with suspicious eyes.
"G-"
"I don't give a rat's ass about what Grand has to say," I said. I turned my gaze back to my grandfather to see that he was digging a large hole into the ground because there were no more trees left. "All I care about is what I know and what I have figured out. It's why you're still here and not dead." I looked up at him and flashed him a smirk.
Cromwell scowled, and amusement filled his eyes. "Gee, thanks," he said sarcastically. "I should just leave you here so that you can face this on your own." He pulled us out of the way from another chunk of the ground and turned his attention back to his brother.
I snorted and rolled my eyes. "Please," I said. "Like you can do that."
He turned his gaze to me and raised an eyebrow. "Oh?" he asked, and I nodded. "And why can't I?"
I shrugged. "There are a couple of reasons why you can't," I replied. "I haven't figured out what the main reason is, but I know that one reason is that I am the Siran, and you feel as if it is your duty to make sure that I am safe."
"And that's not the main reason?"
I shook my head, no. "That's not the main reason why you won't leave me," I replied. I furrowed my brows and bit my lip while I tried to come up with the main reason, but I couldn't. Every time I thought that I was close, it would drift from my head as if warning me not to figure it out just yet. "It has to deal with something about bonds or something like that," I said. "But other than that..." I grimaced and shrugged. "I don't know."
"Bonds?" Cromwell asked, and his voice grew slightly higher in shock. "What do you mean by bonds?"
"Ties, bonds, something like that," I replied. I bit back a groan of annoyance and rubbed the bridge of my nose when a headache appeared out of nowhere. "I don't know what that means, but I know that it is why you won't leave me."
Cromwell nodded his head slowly and furrowed his brows. He didn't say a word while my grandfather stopped tearing up the ground and turned to us. Hesitantly, he stepped in front of me and blocked me from his view, and my grandfather hissed and growled out in anger.
I bit back a scoff when my grandfather started to stalk towards us and rolled my eyes. "Gee," I said, sarcastically. "I thought I told you that he wouldn't hurt me." I grabbed Cromwell's shirt and pulled him to the side, and the hybrid let me.
My grandfather stopped when I was in view and hissed again. He said something in his tongue, deep and rumbling, and I had a feeling that he was asking if I was afraid of him.
I rolled my eyes and scowled. "If I was afraid of you, your ass would be on fire," I pointed out, and he hissed in laughter. I released Cromwell and made my way to the Demon King, making sure that I didn't look him in the eye.
My grandfather watched as I grew closer and closer. He stayed put and watched while I grew closer, flicking his tail every so often.
I stopped and looked at him, his ten foot form, towering over my 5'8 form that I had inherited from my mother. "Well?" I asked and raised an eyebrow. "Are you going to kneel?"
The Demon King growled and snapped his jaws while he narrowed his eyes. Furiously, he flicked his tail, and I could tell that he wasn't going to kneel down to anyone, especially to someone that was a Werewolf and not a Demon.
I scoffed and rolled my eyes. "I don't give a rat's ass," I said, earning another growl from him. I narrowed my eyes and scowled before I placed my hands on my hips and jutted one out to the side. "Kneel down already. You know that you're going to do it anyway, so just do it now."
Again the Demon King growled, but he did what I said and knelt to my level. He breathed out, and I wrinkled my nose as the smell of sulfur filled them.
I coughed and waved my hand across my face and blinked back the tears that formed. "I thought we got past that part," I grumbled before I wrapped my arms around my grandfather's thick neck, my hands barely touching.
My grandfather purred, his chest moving with the purr before he placed his arms around me and held me close. He didn't say a word while he held me tight under the watchful gaze of his brother.
