"I don't understand why they have to come over for dinner," I said to my father.
"Stop Beverly. They are coming over whether you like it or not. This is a business deal. I need to speak to them. It's very important. I don't want you running your mouth like you usually do." my father griped.
"Then why can't I just go upstairs and not be around these asshats?!" I asked him.
My father turned to me and glared. "Shut up Beverly. Now. I don't want to hear another word come out of your mouth. You're doing what I tell you. I'd actually rather have you not down here, but I need you. They are bringing their son with them, and I want you two to talk. Keep him entertained."
"You want me to keep him entertained huh? Fine, tonight when they come, I'll drag their son upstairs and give him the ride of his life." I said smirking.
My father slammed his fist on the counter. "Enough!"
"You will do no such thing! You will dress appropriately, you will be nice, and you will not flirt with the son or I swear I will send you into the basement."
"You wouldn't dare," I challenged. My father looked me in the eys and smirked.
"You are such a little bitch Beverly, and I've truly had enough of you. You may be my daughter, my blood, my heir, but don't think for a second, that I won't throw you down into the basement to teach you a lesson."
I knew he was serious. I could tell it by the way he was looking into my eyes. His eyes were usually green, but they were darker. Almost reminding me of the darkness of the basement. The cold, cold, basement.
I couldn't go back down there.
I was sent when I was 12 years old after my father found me smoking a joint in his office.
Probably not the smartest thing to do, but he sent me down there for a good 2 days. I don't remember much since it was so long ago, but I remember the cold and the solitude.
I was all alone, in the dark.
"Now, they will be here in two hours. Go upstairs, shower, get dressed, and put on some makeup. You will behave tonight. Do you understand?" he asked me.
I nodded. I looked at the ground, I hated myself right now.
I don't know why. But I just did.
I quickly ran upstairs before I let myself start to cry.
I needed a break from this hell...I needed to see Wren.
I grabbed my phone from my bedside table and called him.
He luckily picked up...
Beverly: Hey Wrennie...
Wren: Hey Bev, is everything okay? You sound weird...
Beverly: Not really, my father is just being an asshole. I actually called because I need a favor.
Wren: Sure. Anything...
Beverly: Can I come over later on tonight? Maybe in like 4 hours or so? I just need to get out of this damn house. Away from my father.
Wren: Sure, I'm not 100% sure I'll be back by then, but you have a key, so just come in and wait for me if I'm not there by the time you.
Beverly: Thank you, Wren, I really appreciate it. I guess I'll see you later on tonight.
Wren: See you then...
