America is autistic.
I'm probably just Projecting™ (as I am autistic and am desperate for rep), but he honestly seems to be on the Autism Spectrum to me. Part of the reason that he's my favorite is because we're very similar--he's basically a male, more hyperactive and outgoing version of me, lmao.
Anyways, a few reasons why I see him as autistic:
Blunt/no filter
Impulsive
Has trouble reading the atmosphere (this doesn't mean he CAN'T--it just means it's hard and he chooses not to most of the time)
Is genuinely compassionate and want to help others, but has low empathy (can't see and/or understand others' viewpoints very well, and has trouble understanding others' feelings)
Loud/volume control issues
Only eats hamburgers and junk food on a regular basis, suggesting it's a comfort food or sensory thing (then there's the fact that he treats trying new foods as a challenge).
Has a literal obsession with justice, helping others and being a hero, as well as heroes themselves (Special Interest). Smaller Special Interests would be archaeology and science (he's hopeless at world geography, and it's hard for autistic people to learn things outside their Special Interests).
Strong sense of justice/black and white way of thinking and perceiving the world
Trouble focusing/short attention span
Nosy, bossy, unintentionally insensitive (poor social skills)
Some of his hyperactive behavior is reminiscent of stimming
Doesn't understand sarcasm very well/takes things literally
If I think of any more I'll put them here.
Anyways, America is autistic, thank you for coming to my TED talk.
