After breakfast, my mother and father started packing for their trip. They had to leave early to get on the boat and leave. And that means that I need to start packing to go to Zak’s estate. I’m really nervous to go. I never been to a man’s estate. The only other estate I have been to, is Angelica's estate.

I was running around my room, going through dressers and closets of clothes. Zak left earlier to make sure that everything is neat and clean for when I arrive. I was putting away undergarments, corsets, dresses, hats, and accessories in separate chests, and bags. We had to have a whole carriage just for my stuff. I say I pack light, but my father says I’m just like my mother when I pack; big and heavy.  After I was done packing, and all of the luggage is packed in the carriage, the carriage went off to Zak’s estate to be unloaded and put away in whatever room Zak will put me in.

I sat in the study room reading, drinking my daily tea with my parents while waiting for the carriage to get back and take me to Zak’s estate. To be truthful, I’m rather nervous. What will happen when I’m there? Will something good or bad happen? Will Zak try to make a move, or just leave me be? Oh I hope I don’t see Mrs. York, I know she is a well-known woman around Northern Whales, and has a reputation to keep up with; just like any woman who is exposed to the public. I just don’t feel good things around her.

Tick……..Tick……Tick…… goes the clock as my parents and I sat in the study room drinking tea. My mother sewing, my father writing business letters to give to his employees before he and my mother departs to go to Spain. And I’m reading my book. Just to keep my mind occupied.

DING DONG DING DONG……. DING DONG DING DONG…. DONG……….DONG………..DONG………..DONG……… goes the clock. I look up at the ancient grandfather clock. “6 sharp.” My father says. While looking at his pocket watch. I sigh and finish my tea. My mother looks at me and smiles as I go back to reading my book. “Darling. Do you think it’s safe for Shelby to go to Mr. Bagans’ estate while we are gone?” I look at her with sympathy. I felt so sorry for her. She was just like me. Very fragile and worried about almost everything. She jumps at the most smallest things.

My father then stops writing and turns to look at my mother. He then looks at me. “Yes.” He looks back at my mother. “Shelby is in danger, confirmed by Mr. Bagans and by facts. Our little girl we love and care so much about is not going to be alone. And, since Mr. Bagans is courting her, it would be a nice experience to get to know him better. Don’t you agree Shelby?” Both my father and mother turned towards me with a smile. I just nodded my head in response. “See. My little girl is going to be a perfect wife. Just life you are dear.” He said to my mother, as he got up from his work desk, and came up to my mother and kissed her hand. I froze at the thought of how my father said that. ‘A good wife.’ He says. What if Mr. Bagans and I don’t’ get married? It will put shame to both me and my parents. I know I’m courting Zak, but that only says a little.  I smiled and went back to my reading. After a couple of minutes, we heard the carriage pull up to the house.

My father just finished writing all of the letters to his employees. My mother put away her sewing and I put the book I was reading back in its proper place. “The carriage is here Shelby. Now you behave and make a good impression. I trust Mr. Bagans as a good man. He has my permission to take you anywhere. As long as it is not dangerous and you don’t get hurt, or even die.” He says with a smile. I laugh a little and nod my head. “Of course father. I will make both you and mother proud.” I hugged my mother first. She gave kisses all over my face. “I love you mom.” I said to her. ‘I love you more than you can imagine my precious Shelby.” I hug her tightly one last time and let go. I turn to my father and give him a big bear hug. “I love you daddy.” I say to him. He holds me tighter, like he never wants to let me go. “I love you too, my princess.” I pull away from the hug and kiss his cheek.

I put on my coat and hat, and went outside where the carriage waited for me. I turned around and smiled at my parents. “I love you both very much. Please write as much as you can.” I said with a few tears in my eyes. Who knows what happens out there when you travel out at sea. You may or may not come back. My mother nodded. A few tears leaving her beautiful hazel eyes. I get my brown eyes from my father. “We will sweetie. We promise. We’ll keep you updated on everything. You promise to do the same?” My mother asked. “I promise. I love you.” I said as I got in the carriage. I blew them a kiss, and the man closed the door. Then, the carriage went off. I was now headed toward something good or something evil.

Please dear God let this be a good experience. And if not. Let’s hope there is no bloodshed.
