"You never know the biggest day of your life is going to be the biggest. The days you think are going to be big ones, they are never as big as you make them out to be in your head. It’s the regular days, the ones that start out normal. Those are the days that end up being the biggest. And today was the wedding. It was beautiful. Perfect. You never know the biggest day of your life is the biggest day, not until it’s happening. You don’t recognize the biggest day of your life, not until you’re right in the middle of it. The day you commit to something or someone. The day you get your heart broken. The day you meet your soul mate. The day you realize there’s not enough time because you wanna live forever. Those are the biggest days. The perfect days. You know, it was a beautiful day."
-Izzie Stevens, S5E22, "What a Difference a Day Makes"

"When something begins, you generally have no idea how it’s going to end. The house you’re going to sell becomes your home, the roommates you were forced to take in become your family and the one night stand you were determined to forget becomes the love of your life. We spend our whole lives worrying about the future, planning for the future, trying to predict the future, as if figuring it out will somehow cushion the blow. But the future is always changing. The future is the home of our deepest fears and wildest hopes. But one thing is certain when it finally reveals itself. The future is never the way we imagined it."
-Meredith Grey, S523, "Here's to Future Days"

"Doctors spend a lot of time focused on the future, planning it, working toward it. But at some point you start to realize your life is happening now. Not after med school, not after residency, right now. This is it. It’s here. Blink and you’ll miss it. Did you say it? "I love you. I don't ever want to live without you. You changed my life." Did you say it? Make a plan. Set a goal. Work toward it, but every now and then, look around. Drink it in 'cause this is it. It might all be gone tomorrow."
-Meredith Grey, S5E24, "Now or Never"

It was an exciting time for Derek, Meredith, and Anna. The start of a new family, a new life together. Meredith remained calm. It was Izzie who went overboard and started acting like a bridezilla. She dragged Anna down with her. They spent days picking the perfect bridesmaids' dresses, bouquets, theme, menu, the whole nine yards. It was exciting. Anna was too young to really be involved in Derek and Addison's wedding (besides being the flower girl), so this was different. A good different.

The residents and interns were back to their scheduled work as a car crash sea of graduation students poured into the ER. It was nearing the afternoon. Anna sat beside Izzie's bed, flipping through bridal magazines, when Izzie paged Derek.

"You paged me?" Derek asked, throwing a smile to his daughter, "Hi, sweetheart."

"Hey." Anna mumbled, her eyes scanning the different wedding venues and landscapes.

"Yes." Izzie nodded, "Did you get the check for the caterers and the cash tips for the waiters?"

"Yes."

"Uh, did you write your vows?"

"Not yet. I will."

"Derek... you have to write your vows. What you say to Meredith on this day, it's important. She'll remember it for the rest of her life."

"Izzie, I have patients, so if you paged me to talk about the wedding, I-"

"That's not why I paged you."

"I have a craniotomy to get to."

"He's back." Izzie said, "Denny, he's back."

Derek didn't want to stress, or be too overly concerned until they knew something was absolutely going on. Derek nodded, glancing at Anna, saying he was going to order a new MRI.
