"Infections have a nasty way of sneaking up on you. You're feeling pretty good, you think the infection is gone, and then, it reappears, out of nowhere. When your body's still weak, when you're barely recovered, BAM! You're infected all over again. And once the infection spreads, once it gets into your bloodstream, well, then you really have to watch it, cause that's the kind of infection that can kill you. You know that thing, that terrible thing, you thought you had laid to rest? What if you didn't? You know that thing you think you finally figured out? What if you haven't? When do you know you've put something to bed? When is it finally safe to move on? Maybe you never know. Maybe you just have to test the water. You have to see how it feels. And if it feels good, I mean really good, then, hell, I say go for it."
-Meredith Grey, S12E23, "At Last""They say love knows no bounds. I don’t know about that. I feel like I’ve seen the bounds and pushed them a couple of times. Love definitely has bounds. I’ve seen where it ends. Love has boundaries. We know this. We knock them down, build them back up, then knock them down again. But does it have to be that way? Can’t we learn? Can’t we be brave? Can’t we believe? Because, maybe, that’s all we need. A little courage. A little hope. A little belief. Maybe there are no boundaries if we choose to not see them. Maybe love is unlimited if we’re just brave enough to decide love is limitless. Maybe there’s enough happy for everyone. Or maybe... give me a minute. I'll think of something."
-Meredith Grey, S12E24, "Family Affair""Don't you wish you could just take it back? That thing you said? That thing you did? There's no undo button. There's only hoping we can learn. We can change, right? We can do better. We can't take back what we've done. We can't undo the past, cause the future keeps coming at us. Best to keep the past in the past. Move on. Learn from it. We don't learn from our mistakes, we wind up locked into a future we never choose. The past is written, there's no changing it. What's done is done, but the future is ours to choose, for better or worse."
-Meredith Grey, S13E1, "Undo""As surgeons, we are our brother's keepers. Ride or die. Womb to tomb. We see each other's fears. We see the white knuckle panic of failure. We see ourselves. And who the hell likes looking at that? We walk through these doors as interns, chips on our shoulders. Loners. Lesser rockstars on the verge of greatness. We're thrown into the deep end together. Told to save lives together. To save each other. We become family. And even when you really screw up, family is always there. Always on call. Womb to tomb. Ride or die."
-Meredith Grey, S13E2, "Catastrophe and the Cure""Mom. Mom! Mother! I know I was enraged before. I was there. No. I am sober. Because we love each other. Because we didn't see a reason to wait. Because people get hit by cars. We've been together fot a year. Yes, we broke up, and then we... so what if it's been on and off? I don't know, Mom... I'm alone. If you don't come, it is just me and Anna. Mom. Mommy, please, I am getting married. Fine. Yeah, no. Um... okay. I understand. Yeah, it's so good to know that the best people in this family are dead."
Anna, Maggie, Meredith, and April listened to Amelia cry as she locked herself up in the bathroom. Anna knocked on the door, "Aunt Amelia? Can I come in?"
"I am so done with my grandma and my other aunts," Anna scoffed, angered that none of them were showing up, "It's so typical of them. They think they're better than her. When my dad died, they stopped talking to me after I told them I wasn't moving back to New York."
"I'm calling Owen." April said, heading downstairs.
"Geez." Maggie said, feeling sad for Amelia.
After Owen showed up, he coaxed Amelia out of the bathroom so she could continue getting ready for her big day. The rain poured outside as Anna got dressed and applied light makeup. As they headed to the church, April and Ben went back to the house to look for the rings.
