San's point of view

The sound of constant banging wakes me up, my eyes snap open at the sound of YangYang screaming "cold blue", well shit.

I immediately jump out of bed to brush my teeth and wash my face. I toss on whatever clothes is laying on my floor before dashing downstairs, she eyes me before shaking her head.

Mom: It's almost three in the afternoon and you look like yesterday.

Hopefully she doesn't notice the fact I'm hungover.

Mom: Do you have a hangover?

Of course she noticed, why wouldn't she? She hums walking past me making her way to the kitchen. Johnny and Ten sit at the eating and talking about random things, they give my mom a politely bow as she walks in.

Mom: The kitchen is pretty clean, surprise surprise.

My mom hired a maid to come out here every two days to clean our house. We're not your typical dirty frat but we're not the cliché "he's actually neat" type either. We're a happy medium.

She takes a seat at the island while I prepare her favorite tea. Lucas walks in but walks right back out once he sees her. My mom can be a bit much, being around her is definitely uncomfortable at times. She sounds like she's judging you twenty-four seven.

Mom: So Johnny, still studying to be a dental assistant?

See what I mean?

Johnny: Yes ma'am.
Mom: Interesting, choosing to be the lackey is very noble of you.

Oh my gosh.

My mother doesn't understand that not everyone wants to be or is capable of being a boss, or CEO, or leader. It's not because they're dumb or lazy it's just because that amount of responsibility is burdensome, overwhelming.

Johnny is one of those people who doesn't desire to be too high up the ladder, he's very capable of being at the top but the thought annoys him.

As soon as they finish their last drop of tea they dash out the kitchen.

Me: You make my friends uncomfortable.
Mom: Only the strong survive, and only the strong deserve to be your friends. Besides, you'll lose contact after college anyways. You'll be too busy on running a company.

I roll my eyes.

Joining this frat was a "fuck it, why not?" decision. I didn't think I'd grow to love these boys the way I have. I'd do anything for them.

My mom doesn't understand that.

She doesn't understand the value of friendship or love.

Me: How's dad?
Mom: He's him.

Still fighting I see.

Mom: How's your sister?
Me: Your daughter? Giselle.
Mom: She made it very clear last time we spoke I was no longer her mother.
Me: She was hurt, you hurt her feelings.
Mom: If she's going to be that dramatic over a few strong words then she's not ready for the world.

I scoff.

Me: Strong words? You called her pathetic.
Mom: Is she not?

She's so mean.

Mom: I love Giselle, she's my only daughter, the oldest at that. The way she chooses to live is very pathetic. That place she works at? Terrible. Her apartment? Horrible. The way she carries herself? She'll never find the right husband.

She takes a sip of her tea before smiling.

Mom: But you my dear boy, you're so promising. You've made me proud all these years.

By doing what she wants me to do, never what I want to do.

Giselle's point of view

I toss three things of ramen into the basket followed by a few cans of tuna. My check was basically spent on bills, not leaving much for food so here I am. I hum to myself scanning the cooler for milk.

Why the heck is milk so expensive?

Half a carton it is.

I squint as I see someone familiar.

She glances towards me as she feels my stare and frown. Yeosang walks towards her to say something and she grips his hand while still eyeing me. He looks towards my way and waves.

Me: Long time no see.
Yeosang: Correct, haven't seen you since your drunken mishap.
Me: I have a lot of those.
Yeosang: Try to be safe next time.

He smiles politely before walking away, Cina swings their hands back and forth smiling.

I frown, I'm kind of jealous.
