"Father!" A scream was heard
Nathaniel excused himself from the customer and walked into the back. There stood Esther and Elliana, covered in flour.
"What happened here?" Nathaniel asked, examining the mess
"Esther decided it would be fun to throw flour at me," Elliana exclaimed, shaking the flour off her skirt
"Esther?" Nathaniel asked, crossing his arms
Esther gave him a cheeky smile, "It was an accident,"
"It wasn't an accident. You threw the flour at me because I told you not to add frosting on the cupcakes until they cool down,"
Esther looked down while Elliana glared at her. Nathaniel let out a sigh and walked over to them, "Now, don't fight with each other. You're sisters. Elliana you shouldn't be mad at Esther as you know she doesn't like to be wrong neither do you. So right now, Elliana go clean yourself off and Esther come with me. You can take customer's orders,"
Nathaniel pulled them into a hug and kissed the top of their heads, "I love you, always know that,"
"I love you too, father," Elliana and Esther said, tightening their hold on him

"Dad, are you awake?" Nathaniel looked up and saw Esther standing there
"Why are you awake, Esther?" Nathaniel asked, cleaning his hands on his apron
"I had a nightmare," Esther said, tears brimming
"Come here," Nathaniel walked over to her with his arms open
Esther ran into his arms and held onto him. Nathaniel rubbed her back and kissing the top of her head.
Ever since the girls were born, it was a rollercoaster for Nathaniel. Losing his title as Marquess once his father found out about the girls, cutting off contact with Isla and Ro to protect them, then the girls learning their first word and first step were memorable. It was awkward for Nathaniel as he had to explain their monthly 'rainfall'.
"Dad, can we go see mother?" Esther asked, looking up at him
"If you want then yes," Nathaniel said, giving her a smile
"I do. I miss her even if I never meet her,"
"I miss her too. She should be here with you girls to experience everything,"
"Dad, what was she like?"
"You do know your mother was the Queen of Xiao, so that would make you the princess," Nathaniel said, squeezing her cheek
"Really? So that would mean, you were the King,"
"No, birdy. I meet you mother soon after she was dethrone. Her cousin soon took her place as Queen of Xiao,"
"Is it the current Queen ruling?"
"Yes. I've been meaning to tell you and your sister, but I didn't know when,"
