Elliana sat in class, writing down notes as the teacher explained. The Lakewood Academy is well-known, but not hard to get into, just the payment is expensive. Elliana was thankful to get to study in the academy, but she also hated that Esther couldn't be here with her.
--------"Elliana, how are you?" Mollie, her classmate, sat down beside her in cafeteria
"Hey Mollie. I'm doing fine. How about you?" Elliana unwrapped her lunch
"Oh, that looks good," Mollie said, staring at the ham and cheese croissant
"My father makes the best croissants and baked goods in town," Eliana boosted
"Really? I should go check out your fathers bakery, but can I take a bite please?" Mollie begged
"Yeah, here, but you promise to come to my fathers bakery?" Elliana said, handing Mollie a piece of her croissant
"Yes, I promise. Thank you," Mollie bit into the croissant and let out a moan, "This is so good,"
"I told ya," Elliana giggled and bit into hers
----------Elliana stood outside the school, waiting for her father to come. 'He should've been here by now.' Elliana looked around, trying to spot him.
"Elliana!" A yell was heard
Elliana looked at the person and it was Miss Suzanna, she was their nanny.
"Miss Suzanna, what are you doing here?" Elliana asked, walking towards her
"Your father sent me," Suzanna stated
"Why? Did something happen?" Elliana asked, worried
"It's your sister. Something happened during the day, but your father didn't tell me the whole story, but he told me to get you, so we should be going," Suzanna said, holding out for Ellianas backpack
"I can carry it, Miss Suzanna. We should get going," Elliana smiled, intertwining her arm with Suzanna
--------"Father?" Elliana said, walking into the cafe
"Elliana, you're here. Thank god. Thank you, Miss Suzanna, but is it possibly if you could stay for a while until the cafe closes?" Nathaniel asked, jogging over to them
"Of course, I can always spare some time for you," Suzanna said, a smile on her face
"Thank you, Miss Suzanna. I'll pay you. Can you take care of Esther while me and Elliana are tending the cafe?"
"Yes, you tend to the cafe. I'll take care of Esther," Suzanna walked to the staircase
"Thank you, Miss Suzanna," Natanniel bowed to Suzanna and looked at Elliana, "Elliana, my birdy, I'm going to need your help, okay,"
"Yeah. What do I need to do?" Elliana asked, setting her bag behind the counter
"I need you to write down orders and give the meals out. Penny is the only one here and I'm in the back, cooking. So, can you do that for me," Nathaniel said, pulling her along with him to the kitchen
"I can do that," Elliana tied the apron around her waist and grabbed a notepad
"Thank you, birdy. I'll reward you for this,"
"No need to, father," Elliana said and walked off to the tables
--------Miss Suzanna watched over Esther while Elliana helped downstairs with the cafe.
Esther let out a groan when she felt pain spreading through her head.
"Esther? Are you awake?" Esther carefully opened her eyes and covered them when the light hurt her
"W-where am I?" Esther asked, taking her hands off her face and looked around, "Wait? Why am I in my room? Lunch started,"
Esther pushed the blanket off of her and sat on the edge, about to stand until Miss Suzanna stopped her.
"Esther, do you remeber me?" Esther looked up and her eyes widened
"Miss Suzanna, what are you doing here?"
"Your father called me here to take care of you after something happened to you. Do you by any chance remember?" Suzanna asked, carefully examining Esther
"No. I can't remember anything from this morning," Esther said, rubbing her temples
"Okay, don't think to much about it. I'm going to get you something to eat and drink, so you just wait here and don't move until I come back," Suzanna stated, keeping an eye on Esther as she walked to the door
"Does that mean I can't go to the bathroom?" Esther said, a grin on her face
"You haven't changed, have you?" Suzanna let out a chuckle and went back to Esther, "Come on, I'll help you to the bathroom,"
"Thank you, Miss Suzanna," Esther held onto Suzanna's arm and walked to the bathroom
Esther did her business and sat back on the bed after finishing. Suzanna left the room to get her lunch. Esther tried to remember what happened, but all she remembers was tending to a customer then getting a sharp pain and everything going blank.
"Ugh, this is too annoying. Why can't I remember anything?" Esther pulled at her hair
"Esther, what are you doing?" Esther turned to the doorway to see Miss Suzanna
"Brushing out my hair," Esther ran her fingers through her hair, but getting stuck in a tangle
"You silly child. Here," Suzanna set a tray on Esther's bed
"Thank you, Suzanna," Esther picked up a sandwich and bit into it
--------The door banged open, making Esther and Suzanna jump and ruining the game as the pieces fell off the board. Nathaniel ran towards Esther, grabbing her face and examining her.
"Dad, what are you doing?" Esther asked
"Y-you remember me?" Nathaniel said, shocked
"Well of course, I would. Your my dad," Esther said, a smile on her face
"Oh thank god," Nathaniel brought her into a hug, kissing the top of her head, "You didn't remember me earlier, so I got scared,"
"Really? I don't remember anything after you and Elliana left," Esther said, her eyebrows furrowing
"What? What happened before then?" Nathaniel asked, pulling away to look at her
"I had sharp pains in my head, but I didn't think any of it, but one came so strong that I could see black dots and then everything went dark. Did I do something?" Esther asked, scared
"No, you didn't. I'm just glad your fine," Nathaniel rubbed her back
"I'm glad to be fine too,"
Nathaniel looked at her and kissed he forehead then backed away. He faced Miss Suzanna.
"Thank you, Miss Suzanna for caring for the girls. I'll pay you downstairs and give you food on the way home," Nathaniel guided Suzanna out of the room
"What happened, Esther? Are you fine?" Elliana asked, sitting down beside Esther
"I don't know, but dad knows. I can't remember anything after you left for school, but I'm fine. So, don't worry, okay," Esther said, giving Elliana a small smile
"You dummy. I'll always worry about you," Pulling Esther into a hug, "Now, let's clean the cafe before we take a shower and sleep,"
"The last one to the kitchen, cleans the dishes," Esther shouted, running out of the room
"Esther, that's not fair,"
'Life's not fair, sister.'
