"Esther, are you alright?" Elliana asked, her eyes widening when she took in Esther's appearance
"Yeah, I poked my eye and it started to burn because my finger had alcohol, so it was my fault," Lightly patting her eye with a wet paper
"Esther, you gotta be careful next time. Now, do you think you can help me with my hair? I can't seem to braid it," Elliana pouted, letting her hair fall
"Come on," Esther motioned Elliana closer to her and braided her hair
------------It was quiet, too quiet. It was already around the time, Lukas and Anastasio would come and Lukas would just talk his head off, making Esther laugh.
"I miss them," Esther mumble, picking at a blueberry muffin
-----------"Hey Esther, where's Anastasio?" Elliana asked
"Gone," Esther said, wiping down a table
"What do you mean by gone?"
"He's gone. It's just like what the word means," Esther walked over to the trashcan, throwing the crumbles in it
"Where did he go? Even how do you know that he left?" Elliana asked, following after her
"Back home and he left me a letter so did Lukas. Now, is that all?" Esther replied, cocking her head
"D-did he by any chance leave anything for me?" Elliana asked, her cheeks reddening
"You like him, don't you?" Esther scoffed, "You barely meet him, Elliana,"
"So, what if I do? You know there's love at first sight even are you jealous that there's a connection between us," Elliana stated, crossing her arms
"Me, jealous? Ha, don't make me laugh, Elliana. Even, I think your the one jealous because ever since you saw them up close, you started to ask me more about them and talk to them. Did you know that they came on the weekends and you walked passed by not caring and you telling me that they were immature and didn't spark your interest? So, tell me what changed your mind? Was it their face?" Esther asked, crossing her arms also
"You really need to get your head checked out," Elliana huffed and walked off
Esther let out a sigh, "I'm the bad guy," and got back to cleaning the cafe
♧♧♧♧♧♧♧
For the past few days, Elliana would avoid Esther when Esther would try to apologize to her or got to close. Nathaniel saw what was happening and decided to hold a family meeting.
"Father, why are we here? I have homework to finish," Elliana said, scooting away from Esther
"Elliana, what are you doing?" Nathaniel asked
"I'm just moving my seat. Me and Esther need our space," Elliana stated, smiling
"Elliana, I know that's not the truth, so that's why I called a family meeting. We are not leaving this table until the both of you apologize to each other," Nathaniel leaned back in his chair, watching the both of them
"So, I can talk to you or are you going to push me away again?" Esther asked, looking at Elliana
Elliana didn't say anything, so Esther took this as an opportunity, "I'm sorry, Elliana. I was just trying to tell you the truth, but it seemed I hurt your feelings. I didn't mean for that to happen. So, I'm sorry for what I said that upset you. Can you please forgive me?"
Elliana stayed quiet. She knew she was wrong. What Esther said was true, she did like Anastasios after seeing him up close. Elliana felt tears well up and wiped them away before looking at Esther.
"I'm sorry, Esther. You were just telling me the truth and I got offended. I forgive you and I'm sorry," Elliana said, holding Esther's hand
"See was that hard at all? The both of you are sisters and have each others back. So, please don't hate each other to the point that you ignore each other," Nathaniel said, placing his hands over theirs
"We're sorry, father. We'll learn from this and speak to each other when there is a problem,"
