The next morning she awoke to Ms.O'Brien and Mama talking.
"Good morning Cora." Mama said.
"Good morning!" Core smiled. Then she realized where she was. The Titanic. Cora was on the Titanic! She smiled to herself and looked at her doll. Her doll seemed to smile too.
"Yes, your own Jack Dawson. Saved a first class lady from drowning." Ms.O'Brien said.
Cora was shocked for a moment! Jack? Jack saved a first class lady from drowning?
"Jack?!" Cora said to her Mama.
Mama didn't answer her. She just tied on her apron and said to Cora;
"Let's get onto breakfast." Mama said, as Daddy took her off her bed. Daddy handed Cora her doll, and she ran to Jack's room.
"Cora, slow down!" Mama called to her, but she was already outside his room next door. Cora vigorously knocked on the door, and Jack answered.
"Hi, Cora!" Ready for breakfast?" He said picking her up.
"Jack, is it true? Did you save a first class lady last night from drowning?" Cora asked him.
Jack bit his lip.
"Who told you that?" He asked.
"Nobody. I heard Ms.O'Brien telling Mama about it." She said, looking at her doll.
Jack didn't say anything for a moment. "Yes." He finally said.
"What was her name?" Cora asked. She was so eager to find out who she was.
"Rose Dewitt Bukater." Jack said.
Cora gasped.
"Isn't that the lady with the curly red hair that you were staring at yesterday?"
Jack laughed. "Yes I suppose." He said.
Cora smiled. Jack was a hero!
At breakfast that was all anybody could talk about. Cora ate her bread and butter, and felt proud. Her best friend- all anyone could ever talk about- was a hero!
