The rushing waves ripped doors off the walls. It was coming closer. Cora and her family screamed, and they ran up the steep stairs to the gate at the top. When they had made it to the top, Mama and daddy tried to open it, and to Cora's horror, it was locked. Cora screamed. It was too late to go back now. Water rushed all around Cora, making it hard to stand. The water swept over her head and Cora grabbed onto the top of the gate.
"Daddy!" She screamed.
"Open the gates!" Her father screamed.
Suddenly, Daddy and Mama were swept under the water. It was rising too fast. Cora held as tight as she could to the top of the gate. The water rose all the way to her shoulders, then her face, and then the top of her head. She got swept under, and couldn't breathe. She searched around for something to pull herself up again, but the water was too high. Cora inhaled huge gulps of water, and held onto her throught. She felt as if she was going to explode. The water was making her heavier and heavier. Her lungs burned. Suddenly, Cora felt very dizzy, and seemed to fall asleep. Everything around her seemed to get calmer, as Cora drowned, never coming back up.*This is not the way my story ends, I just wanted to add it into the story because, sadly, this is what really happened to little Cora Cartmell in the Titanic movie.
