🕷"WHAT do you mean you're staying here?" Nathan shook his head as he slowly walked down the steps, looking at the suitcase that she had dragged behind her.
"I know you didn't expect to see me, I know things are beginning to be rough for you and I just wanted you to know that you're not alone. In order for me to prove that you're not alone, I am going to be hiding away with you." Cindy sighed, raising her head up to show that she wasn't afraid when he faced her.
They continued to stare at each other before Nathan finally spoke. "Go home, Cindy. I don't need any company. I'm perfectly fine on my own." He turned to head back into the cabin when she grabbed his shoulder and twisted him back around.
"That is where you're wrong," Cindy crossed her arms. "Nathan, I know how upset you are that Francesca did this and you had to be away from your family and be hated by everyone in New York. I know you will drive yourself insane if no one's with you. Just let me be there for you, please. You're my friend and it kills me that you're hurting inside."
He ran his hands through his hair, sighing. "Cin, you don't want to be apart of this. If they find me, they'll come after you too and I don't want anything bad to happen to you. Please, understand me."
"And please understand me. I know how to protect myself-I've been doing it for seventeen years. You don't deserve all this shit and you don't deserve to go through it alone either!" She nearly screamed.
"Cindy."
"Nathan."
Nathan didn't know what to say next so he kept quiet. She was right-he would go insane if he didn't have anyone with him. He looked down at her hand that she had extended out for him. "Let me be here for you, Nate. What do you say?"
He stayed quiet for a moment before he sighed, finally shaking her hand. "Welcome home."
Cindy shrieked as she threw her arms around him before pulling her bags behind her. "I know the word 'fun' isn't the word I should be using for a time like this but, I promise I would try to get your mind off of everything that is bugging you." She nodded as she headed up the steps while Nathan went ahead and grabbed her things.
"Give it to Tony to have a cabin out in the woods-and a really great one at that. It has a lot of room and it seems really safe." She said, wandering around the living room. Neither of them had ever been to Tony's cabin, with him having it built in the middle of nowhere to keep Pepper and Morgan safe and away from the superhero life when she had been born. After a couple of years, he had forgotten about it-until now.
Nathan turned to look at her before he decided to explore the rest of the house. "So your parents were okay with you stayin with me for who knows long?"
"They're saddened of the news about you but they know the kind of person you are-they know you're not what Francesca has shown to the world. Plus, my stepfather has fought Francesca's mother many times before along with yours. They figured you could use some bit of company." She smiled as she saw Nathan come downstairs again.
"There's two bedrooms and the other two rooms I'm guessing is where Tony built things, I don't know." He sighed, rubbing his eyes.
Cindy went up to him, rubbing his shoulders. "Go ahead and rest. I'll be down here and make dinner so you can eat something when you wake up."
Nathan gulped, leaning his head back. "Thanks, Cindy." She nodded, pulling away as she watched him slowly walk upstairs.
"You're welcome." She whispered.
