🕷NATHAN had woken up again in a cold sweat sitting in the living room as Cindy was right beside him, massaging his shoulders. It was two in the morning as the tv had been turned on, the only light that was illuminating the whole room. "I'm s-sorry...I'm sorry I keep waking you up at night. I just have these...nightmares that seem so real, I can't get them out of my head."
Cindy turned away from the tv to keep her from falling back asleep and over to him. "Hm? Nah, don't worry about it. I'm actually starting to get used to having you wake me up in the night...but you know it needs to stop, its not good for you, you know that right? No offense but you're a mess..."
He rubbed his eyes, leaning his head back as he tried to calm down. He jumped again but Cindy grabbed ahold of him before he could leave. "The teas don't seem to work but you know what will? Are you comfortable enough to tell me your dreams? What do your nightmares consist of? Maybe letting it all out will help you."
Nathan held his knees close to him, clenching his jaw. He was extremely tired but knew that he wasn't going to be able to sleep again tonight. "It's the same as other nights-something bad happening to my family. My family and friends betraying me. Francesca finding us and doing something terrible to me or even you."
"Stop worrying about that. Have you forgotten who we are? We've been apart of this ever since we were children, we've learned to fight for ourselves. We've learned to protect others and that is what we're going to do with each other. If we are ever found, we're already prepared for it. Your Dad is fucking Spider-Man, even if he is retired he wouldn't let anything happen to you or his family. I'm sure at this moment they're trying to figure out how to fix this situation to get you back home...along with Stark. He loves you, everyone loves you-"
"Not everyone." He gently smiled. "I'm probably still considered a criminal to the people of New York."
Cindy bit her lip. "I know but thats not what I meant when I said everybody-I meant your parents, Rosemary, Megan, Sienna, Azari, Morgan-"
"What about you? Even after all I've done, do you still love me?" He whispered, scooting closer to her.
Cindy nodded. "I mean, of course, I know what you did with Francesca wasn't exactly your doing, it was the symbiote that made you act the way you did-"
"No, no, no," Nathan chuckled. "I mean that after knowing how you felt about me all those years ago but I chose Francesca over you-you still love me?"
Cindy furrowed her eyebrows, her throat suddenly becoming dry. "I-you knew?"
"I mean...it was kinda obvious." He laughed but immediately stopped when he saw how embarrassed she was in that moment. "I'm sorry for just saying that out of the blue, I just thought this was the right time since I've told you how I felt-"
"It's fine." She shook her head. She stood up as Nathan eyed her. "This just isn't how I imagined me expressing how I feel about you, you know?"
Nathan layed his head against the couch, smirking at her. "Can you sit back here with me and tell how you imagined it?"
"I don't think I'm ready for that, Nate...not yet, I'm sorry. I just-" She awkwardly laughed. "We were talking about you and then this all switched out to me, I wasn't, I wasn't expecting this."
"That was my fault, I'm sorry," Nathan shook his head. "Can you come back here with me? Please?" He reached out his hand for her to take which she immediately did.
She smiled at him as they sat side by side. "Do you want to try to fall asleep again?"
He nodded, getting ready to head into his room before she pulled him back. "You seem too tired to walk up those stairs, why don't you and I just try to sleep here...together?"
Cindy moved a couple of pillows on the couch before laying down and scooting up so that her whole body was laying on it. "I'm waiting for you, Parker."
"Waiting for what? You're taking up the whole couch, I don't even fit-"
She smirked. "Yes, you do. If you lay on top of me, we can both sleep here together. Don't give me that face, Parker, just come here. You've kept me up at night for so long, this is the least you can do for me."
"Are you sure?" He said, stepping a little closer before Cindy pulled him on top of her. "Are you sure about this? I don't want to hurt you."
"Relax, you're not hurting me." She giggled as Nathan studied her face to look for a sign of discomfort or awkwardness before finally relaxing as he layed his head on her stomach. "Nathan, you can touch me, I swear I'm fine. This was my idea, wasn't it? Just please try to relax."
Nathan sighed as he took a few minutes to figure out where to put his hands that didn't make her feel uncomfortable before finally placing on her thighs. "Will you tell me at any time I make you feel uncomfortable please?"
"Are you uncomfortable?" She asked. She had reached out to play with his hair, hoping that he wasn't.
"God, no," He sighed. "This actually feels really nice. Thank you for this, Cindy. I never told you this but thank you for being here with me. I don't think I would want to spend however long I have here with anyone else."
Cindy scoffed. "You're just saying that to make me feel better."
He had begun to trace small circles on as he faced the tv with his eyes closed. "It's the truth. You make me feel...good. I just can't believe I never realized that...before..."
Cindy watched as his hands that were on her, had slowly fallen to his side. She smiled. "Goodnight, Nate." She smiled before falling asleep with him.
