CARL.

Today, I woke up feeling like shit. My eyes were sore from too much sobbing the previous night. It hurt that he chose to disregard everything that had transpired between us.

Like it meant nothing. Which is true according to him.

But a part of me hoped that it meant something.

God, what was I thinking? That by kissing him, everything will suddenly change between us? That he will develop feelings for me? A boy. He is the literal definition of straight. He has probably slept with 90% of the girls in River Bridge High. What made me think he would even consider dating me?

He was probably just experimenting with me. Trying to find out how making out with a guy feels. I was just a game to him. A toy. That would explain why he wants to pretend like everything that happened between us doesn't exist. He is ashamed of me. Ofcourse.

Fuck him.

He toyed with my feelings and I let him. He led me on and for a moment I thought that...we could be something more. But I was wrong.

I'm done with him.

He's my past now. He means nothing to me. Whatever idiotic feelings I thought I had for him are dead and buried. We were enemies before and we will remain that way.

Simple as that.

Then there's Melissa who won't stop texting me. She has sent over 20 texts this morning, asking me about the ice cream date. I am this close to blocking her number. Can't she get the fucking memo? That I don't like her and certainly wouldn't want to date her.

She's so exhausting. God!

"Carl." Madame Celine called out, cutting off my chain of thoughts. Everyone's attention was on me. "I asked you a question but it looks like you are not with us in class."She took off her pair of square rimmed glasses, exposing her ashen irises.

"What was the question?" I hate history honestly and sitting through this lecture is a true definition of hell. I hate that I have to read about dictators and how they terrorised people back in the day. It's literally the most boring subject. But I have to put up with it in order to score excellent grades.

"I asked which year did world war II take place?"Madame Celine repeated the question.

"It was in the year 1939." I replied. I had already read two topics ahead which meant everything related to Hitler and world war was at my fingertips.

"Impressive."The History teacher showered me with compliments. "Which year did it end?" She shot the question at me.

"World war II ended in the year 1945." I spilled.

"Which year, did Russia join world war II?" She fired a question.

"Russia, then known as Soviet Union, joined world war II on September 17, 1939 when it invaded Eastern Poland in coordination with the Nazis." Answers poured from my lips. There was silence in the class as everyone stared at me. Some were giving me a stink eye and others were probably wondering how I came up with all that information.

It's called reading ahead, folks. You should all try it sometime.

"Very good work, Carl. You should sign up for the history Q&A contest which takes place next week. I'm certain you'll represent us well."

"Thank you Madame Celine, I'll think about it and get back to you." I assured.

"Sure. Let's proceed." She addressed while putting on her glasses. She commenced scribbling notes on the board while clarifying on the topic. Suddenly, there was a knock on the door.
