After class, the lunch bell rang out. The students ran, and I mean literally stampede themselves over to that cafeteria.
I waited outside for Dib, to whom was asking Mrs. Bitters a question about today's lesson. Not even a few moments later, the boy who called himself Zim walked out of the room. He looked to be irritated. Zim glanced at me and scoffed, probably making his way to the lunch room as well.
Okay then? I don't know what I have done to him, but something tells me we would not be the greatest friends. Eventually Dib came out of the room and was ready to go to the cafeteria with me.
"I just don't get why we can't have, like, lessons that'll help us in our future. I don't understand why the school system thinks that alligators that live in the street sewers is more important than, I dunno, financial aspects. More important things!" Dib rabbles to me while I couldn't stop going back to when Zim scoffed at me. Somehow I thought it was attractive. It was odd. I have never really felt that way before around anyone else.
"(Y/N) are you listening to my complaining?" Dib questions me, snapping me back to reality. "Oh yeah sorry Dib. I was just thinking about something." I told him. He seemed to be interested in what I was thinking. "What's up? Tell me while we're getting our food." Dib says as we were nearing the lunch line. As we were walking in, I noticed Zim was sitting at a lonesome table. It looked like he was waiting for something. Maybe to get food when the line thins out? It was a long line. I'm not really sure with this Zim guy.
"Well, it's just when I was waiting for you outside the classroom," I began as I reached into the lunch line fridge to get a (F/D), "I noticed that Zim was looking at me. He even scoffed at me! What's this mans deal?" I said to Dib, to whom was now holding a food loaded- filled tray. Of course the food didn't look appetizing. This was very expected. "Don't take it personally, (Y/N). Zim is weird and he's an alien." Dib said to me while I received my tray of goopy goop.
"And that, you've never answered my question from before. About how Zim is an alien." I reminded him as we left the line to find a table to sit at.
Dib led me over to where a girl was on a GameSlave device. "Zim is an alien, (Y/N). He wants to take over Earth and destroy us all!" Dib exclaimed to me while he sat down next to the girl, to whom see rather annoyed at Dib's presence. "This is my sister Gaz. She's a gamer, as you can see." Dib introduces me to his sister. She didn't look up at all. Instead she said "sup" in a monotony way. Gaz was in the zone, the gaming zone.
"But back to Zim. (Y/N), you have to believe me. I have proof that Zim really is an alien!" Dib practically shouted at me. Gaz turned her body away from Dib. "Be quiet!" Gaz sneered through her teeth. If she were talking to me, I would have been terrified. Dib even seemed at little startled at his sister's demand. "S-Sorry Gaz. I was telling our new friend how Zim is a alien." Dib exclaimed to Gaz, who just let out a small laugh. "She won't be your friend anymore if you keep it up." Gaz spat at Dib. I couldn't help but smile at Gaz's words. Even though she was younger than Dib, you could clearly tell she was the one who ran things in their household.
"Why should I believe you? Okay fine Zim has green skin, three fingers, purple eyes, weird teeth, strange clothing and walks like he's in the military; but what makes you think otherwise?" I clarified to Dib, who was twitching his eye in annoyance. It kinda wigged me out, honestly. "Look at him!" Dib pointed to Zim, who was poking his tray he recently got from the lunch line.
Zim was wearing goggles and large gloves. Zim was using some sort of device on the food he was going to feast on, or maybe feast on. It looked like he was experimenting on his own lunch food.
Just then as Dib kept shouting: "look at him," Zim lifted his head up to our table. I could not help but blush when he saw me.
Zim swiftly ripped off the goggles and gloves off his hand. He threw the strange device against the nearest wall, causing it to shatter into pieces. He sat there, looking around like nothing out of the ordinary was happening. To make it seem more believable, he twirled his gloved-fingers and whistled.
"What the..." I started but got off track.
"Did you see that? Do you believe me now? Huh? HUH?" Dib interrogates me. I was taken aback by Dib and his behavior. Even if Zim was an alien, why was Dib so obsessed with Zim?
I couldn't help but frown at Zim, who was now poking his food with a fork. He looked disgusted by it. I didn't really blame the poor boy. I sighed and looked at Dib. "Have you ever thought that Zim needed a friend?" I asked Dib, now his turn to be taken aback. "What?" He quaked at me. I rolled my (E/C) eyes at him. "Maybe Zim is mean to his peers because people like you are picking on him because he looks different." I explained, expressing my frustrations to Dib. Dib looked confused about my sudden change of mood.
"(Y/N) no just listen to me." Dib stressed to me. "I am Dib, I'm just going to ignore you." I told him. And with that, I got up and made my way over to Zim's table.
