Gemma's POV

"You're back early." Jack said as I entered the house

"Yeah" I said

He narrowed his eyes at me, "what's wrong?" He asked

I shook my head the slightest bit.

"Alright I'll let you keep your little secret but know that if you ever need to talk about it, I'm here." He said

I smiled and nodded at him then headed to my room.
I need to clear my head. So, I decided to just relax first while listening to music before I start to think of a way to stop that disguised monster from whatever he's up to.

An hour passed ~ I'm just lying down relaxing and listening to music.

A second hour passed ~ I'm still listening to music but while reading a book.

A third hour passed ~ I heard a loud knock (that if it wasn't a bang) on the front door. I took off the earphones and went to check.
I passed Jack's room and peeked inside and saw him fast asleep on his bed. So I go to open the door and see Sarah standing in the doorway.

"What took you so long? I was starting to get worried!" She exclaimed

"Sorry 'bout that, I didn't hear you knocking and Jack's asleep so.." I said

After a brief moment I got outta the way and let her in. The tension could be smelled in the air and the silence wasn't helping either.

Sarah sighed before saying; "Okay we gotta talk."

"About?" I tried being dumb even though I knew it wouldn't work

"Gemma." She said.

"Sarah." I said motioning her to my room

I sat on the floor as she shut the door behind her. She followed my lead and sat across me.

"Spill. What was that about?" She said almost immediately "and don't act dumb on me!"

"You tell me! What, do you want to wait until he attacks?!" I sorta snapped

"It was never like that!" She said

"Then what was it like?"

"It was...." She stayed silent for a bit "we were at school. We can't just do something there."

"Yeah but could've at least observed. Could've at least believe me. Or not but don't make me feel like a dumbass!" I said

"You're not a dumbass!" She said

"Sure felt like it.." I said my voice breaking just a teeny tiny bit but Sarah -being the best best friend she is- noticed and she leaned forward and pulled me into her hug
I just hugged her back as I fought back my tears. Thankfully, I won and didn't cry.

Just as we pulled away, Sarah's phone rang.

"Hey Preston," she answered

I could listen to his voice on the other line, "hey Sarah, uh... Caleb's kinda missing... Where's Gemma?"

"Right here actually, you were saying?" I said loudly so he could hear

"Oh uh.. Hi.. We're sorry." He said

I sighed.

"We should keep an eye out. Let's meet in the base." I said

As Sarah hung up, we got up and went to the base.
