The Fateful Night

Yoru's POV

2 years Later...

I just finished training the Kocho siblings again at the Butterfly Estate. Kyojuro and Obanai are somewhere else doing their missions without me because I'm busy. I didn't tell them what I'm doing or Kyojuro might not let me go. Being a big brother in this second life, it's a whole new experience. Maybe I used some incorrect methods without noticing? Hmm...

"Yoru-san!" Kanae calls out for me. "Get down from the roof! It's dangerous!" Oh, so she discovered my favorite spot in this estate.

"I'm doing just fine. I've been up here since the first day I visited both of you." I increase the volume of my voice in case she won't hear me from up here.

"You think you're the only one who can reach up here?" I turn my head and see Shinobu smirks and crosses her arm. What the heck? What's she doing here?

"Shinobu-chan! You too?!!" Kanae's gaze locked on Shinobu.

Shinobu stands up and waves her hand to Kanae. "Look nee-san! I can do what Yoru-san can! See?" She tries to balance herself while walking towards me. At one point, she tries to stand with only one foot. She loses her balance.

"Shinobu-chan!" Kanae shouts with fear. She's planning to catch her little sister from below but I caught Shinobu's haori just in time.

"That's careless." I pull her back without much effort. "I understand that you want to prove that you're strong, but please use your head." She looks away, probably annoyed. "Hey, Shinobu. Let's get down from here. Kanae is worried. Do you want my help?"

She turns her head back. Some tick marks are visible. "I don't need your help!" She shrugs my hand away. I sigh.

"Fine then. But at least try to smile once in a while. You'll get along with people better that way." Shinobu doesn't make eye contact. "You'll meet a lot of people. Some just pass by and in the end, they'll leave. You already have enemies. The demons. I don't recommend you to do the same for people." I turn away and take a huge leap from the rooftop, receiving gasps from the two of them. As usual, I do some air flips and bend my knees before landing to reduce the momentum. Not wanting to lose, Shinobu leaps down from some roof with different heights. She doesn't have my level of durability so I guess that's necessary.

"Kaw! Kaw! Kanae! Shinobu! Yoru! Head west to your next mission! Kaw!"

"Huh? Why am I included?" This is very odd.

"Because there's a probability of a very powerful demon to show up. The demon had been spotted roaming nearby that place. A pillar might be needed and you're the only one available at the moment. Kaw!"

Oh crap. I hope Upper Moon two doesn't show up yet. Kanae and Shinobu are still Kinoe ranked. And they haven't meet Kanao yet. It's too early. The worst possibility is Muzan showing up. Why? Because I didn't know how Muzan will die. I died before the final chapters are still ongoing. Yes, I watch lots of anime but I didn't finish watching them yet. I must prioritize my homework. Should I start practicing sealing Jutsu? Or should I try my luck to activate rinnengan? How about...

"KAW! STOP SPACING OUT YORU! YOU HAVE WORK TO DO! KAW!" Ah, there it is... my loud annoying crow. Sozoshi. I nod and wear my mask, ready as I'll ever be. The wind blows our haori as we're all set for our next mission.

The night is quiet. Dead quiet. These people must've been afraid after hearing the recent death of their neighbor and keep themselves locked at home. "It's too quiet, don't you think?" Shinobu points out the obvious thing. I just reply 'Hn', which earns me her glare.
