"Come on Larry is this really necessary?" Sarah tried to sound serious, a difficult task when she had the widest smile on her face. Larry had made her wear a blindfold the entire cab ride to where a surprise lay in store. It was the day of Christmas Eve, Larry had just finished on a rather easy yet heavily rewarding case. For Sarah it was just a half day at the office, meaning she had the rest of the afternoon and evening free to spend with her husband. She was already feeling quite skittish, having reached the sixth week in her pregnancy and so her first ultrasound scan was just around the corner, in only four days.
Larry laughed, eager for his wife to see what he had for her and after paying the driver, he got out and helped a still blindfolded Sarah. "Yes it's completely necessary, to avoid any spoilers," he whispered in her ear, gently guiding the woman down the snow filled Boston street, suddenly bringing her to a halt. Sarah was none the wiser, she had no idea where Larry had taken her or what they were doing out in the cold. But at the same time, she couldn't wait to see the surprise.
"Now don't go telling me off for this," Larry joked, slowly loosening and untying the blindofld from over Sarah's eyes to reveal that she was standing in front of a bluish grey bricked house with gorgeous panelled windows and oak brown door. It was detached from the other houses around it with a cute porch leading up to the front door. A beautful house on all accounts. The type of home Sarah could imagine curling up on the couch with a book in hand in front of the couch while the snow continued to fall outside beneath the night sky. "Welcome home."
"What do you mean...? Oh Larry it's perfect! What made you buy this place?" the woman gasped in awe as she stepped inside after Larry, welomed by the warm glow emmitted by the interior's character. Larry had already moved the furniture in and it brought a tear to Sarah's eye. He had already done so much for her and now this! "Ally is really lucky to have someone like you in love with her," she smiled, stroking along Larry's jaw line before hugging him tightly.
Hugging back, Larry was relieved Sarah was impressed by the house, he wanted to find a place for his wife to stay that was better to live in than the apartment now that the pregnancy was in full swing. And this house seemed to fit the bill for both of them. "There's also an attic on the third floor we can use for a nursery," he wanted nothing but the best for his unborn child.
It made Sarah's heart melt at how Larry was already making plans for their baby so early on in the first trimester. He couldn't be a better a father even he tried, because he was already so brilliant at the role. "A full floor all dedicated to our baby?" Sarah smirked, playfully raising an eyebrow in Larry's direction. "Now I hope you don't intend on spoiling he or she when they're born."
"Like you'd do anything less," Larry rolled his eyes lightheartedly, placing a hand on Sarah's stomach. It was still too early for to show, but knowing it was Larry's child in there was all that mattered. He already loved it like he loved Sam. "I'm going to shower you with so much love and affection, we both will," he lowered himself to press an ear against Sarah's stomach, stroking it at the same time. His wife wore a bright smile, her heart warming as she listened to Larry talking to their baby, gently stroking his hair.
"Is that so?" She laughed.
"Shh.. I'm talking to our child," Larry quickly looked up for a moment, giving Sarah a small wink before conintuing to address the baby she was carrying. "I hope your prepared for the life ahead of you, because daddy's never going to stop loving you, even if there comes a time when you tell me "stop it Dad because it's emabrassing!" what's that? uh-huh? really? well I love you more."
"And I love you most my baby," Sarah interrupted, softly stroking her stomach as she too spoke to her child. Something told her this baby was going to be in safe and loving hands and was going to lead a happy life, one it's older brother never had the chance to experience. "We'll be seeing you for the first time very soon.." the expectant mother laughed lightly, looking forward to her first scan.
