In no time, I could hear someone rushing down the stairs. I turned around to see Nathan. He looked at the message from my hand and seemed shocked as well.

"Why would someone do that Nath?" I asked softly.

"They must have been drunk! Just forget about it ok?" He consoled me, pulling me to his chest.

"Such an intense message when you're drunk?" I asked again.

"Shh. Don't worry about it. Let's go to bed!" He whispered as he shut the front door and locked it. Before going to our room, Nathan took one last glance through the window to see if he could spot anyone. But unfortunately there was no one.

I was scared this time. It's not like last time with people sending me death threats. It all changed. I have a baby now! I cannot let anything happen to me. Evie would go mother less. I had to protect her and Nath too. WIth all these thoughts terrorizing my brain, I finally decided to go to bed.

*6 months later*

I was sitting at work, just looking at some random files placed on my desk. I had to interrogate a suspect in about 5 minutes. But I was a bit scared. She was an old women and looked like my mother. I didn't want to break down in the interrogation room. That would lead to my suspension and no body looks forward to getting suspended. It was about 9 in the night and I had to stay a few more hours. It would take me quite long to get back home, I sighed to myself.

The interrogation went pretty well. She was quite an open lady. Didn't look like she was hiding anything. Soon I was packing my stuff and getting my things ready to leave work. I didn't have to come back to the lab for the rest of the week. I love my job, but sometimes it got to stressy for me to handle.

I was snapped out of my thoughts, when I phone started buzzing. The caller ID belonged to Nath.

"Hey!" I answered.

"Hey babe! Where are you?" He sounded concerned.

"Sorry! Just got caught up with work! I'm leaving now!" I replied.

"Alright! Hurry up! I miss you!" He whispered.

"Ok! Bye babe!" I said as I hung up.

The rain was pissing it down outside. I rushed to my car and quickly got myself inside. I hated it when I had to drive in such weather. I could barely see the road in front of me. It was awfull.

Luckily, I was finally home. The rain had calmed itself down. I ran to the door and rang the door bell. I was greeted at the door by Nathan. He pecked my lips and hugged me tight pulling me inside the house.

He had made dinner which was sweet. He had improved on cooking so much by now.

"What did you do today?" I asked, bringing up a conversation.

"Uhm. Nothing really! I took Evie for a walk, met up with Jay and Max, and hung out a bit with Emily!" He answered.

Emily. He and Emily had turned into BFFs over the last few months. As much as I try to ignore it, I never liked him hanging out with her. I always had a bad feeling about her. And she never offers to hang out with Nathan when I'm around him. Why?

~

Suddenly, at midnight, there was a loud crash in the house. My eyes immediately stretched open. I looked at Nathan who was deep asleep. He was lightly snoring as well. I didn't want to wake him. So I just head out myself and checked Evie's room. She was sleeping too. So I just went downstairs to look if there was any one outside.

The opening of the door, sent a cold breeze inside the house, causing me to shiver. I walked outside and walked around the house. I checked the clock and it was 2:02 AM. I looked around and there was no one in spot.

Just as I was about to go back inside, I felt a huge thing hit my head. I touched my forehead to see blood flowing from my head. Soon everything started fading out. I fell to the ground still unaware of what was happening to me. Everything was soon pitch black.
