I was broken. A week had gone by since mine and Nathan's split. I really missed him and loved him so much. But I didn't think it was the same for him. He hardly spoke about 2 or 3 words a day. We still lived together, because we have Evie and we don't want our daughter to be affected by our split. I moved into one of the guest rooms in our house. Nathan barely looked at me anymore. I was hurt and the feelings that I had 3 years ago of heart break came rushing back to me. All those memories that I try to flush away, always found their way back into my life. I tried so hard to move on, but when the emotion is love, it never was easy.

Quite surprisingly, Nathan still hadn't taken out the pictures of us hung in our bedroom. Not 'our' bedroom anymore. I could barely step into it, fearing that I would break down into tears. Not that I don't cry at all these days. Sometimes they just flow out. If only I had the courage to go tell Nathan that I still loved him and that break was a stupid mistake. What was I even thinking? I never imagined life without Nathan, and I never will.

I had just come back from work, and as I unlocked the door, I saw Nathan typing away on his laptop. He didn't even bother to look up. Normally, I would be given a good warm hug and a soft kiss. And this time I don't even get to see his eyes looking at me for a second. It was all my fault anyway.

It was late so I headed to the kitchen to make Evie's food for her. She was already crying. Nathan helped me make it faster. We didn't really speak much though. Infact we didn't speak at all.

It didn't take too long to feed her. And so I started getting her bed ready. I was also tired, so I wanted to put her to sleep quick tonight. That's when Nathan came in and looked at Evie.

"Goodnight Sweetie" He kissed her forehead. He looked at for a second and then looked down.

"I uhm, I'm going out tomorrow. I need you to take care of Evie." He said looking at the floor.

"Ok, I'll work from home."

"Ok" He said and quickly walked out.

I heard the door bell and I think Nathan opened the door. The voice of the visitor was of a female and recognizable. It was my favourite neighbor, Emily!

There was a tiny bit giggling and then huge roars of laughter. Then I guess he went out with her as I heard the door close and no more footsteps inside the house.

I looked over at baby Evie and she was already asleep. I gave her a soft peck and stared at her for sometime. She had the cutest tiny little hands and legs. I loved her so much. She's probably my only reason to live. Now that I had nothing else. I sat by her cot and weeped at the silly decisions I make.

My phone started buzzing in my pocket and I instantly answered it,

"Hello!" I answered.

"Heyy Elli! It's Kelsey!" Kelsey screeched down the phone. I hadn't spoken to her in a LONG time. It was unbelievable.

"Hey Kels!"

"Do you want to hang out tomorrow?" She asked

"I'm sorry hun, I can't! I got to look after Evie. Apparently Nath is going out." I sighed.

"Oh no!"

"I'm sorry"

"You sound so sad. Are you alright?" She inquired.

"I'm fine." I sighed again.

"Just tell him how you feel!" She said. She new about how I felt about Nathan. She always kept telling me to go back and tell him the truth.

"I can't! What am I supposed to say? He hates me!" I cried.

"Aww honey! Don't cry! Everything will be alright! I promise!"

"Thanks Kels!"

"I will visit you soon babe!"

"Oki! Good night Kelsey!"

"Night!" She said, as she hung up.

I tossed my phone into my room and headed downstairs for a cup of water. I just needed to get some fresh air so I went outside again. The cold air felt good against my skin for once. I stood at the back of the house for a couple of minutes until I felt a pain in my throat. Everything seemed weird inside my body. And then I just started coughing. Coughing like I was dying. I could barely breathe. I saw Nathan coming back from god knows where. He saw me and froze for a second. I ran into the house to catch my breath and get some more water to stop the cough. But it was all in vain. I rushed into the toilet and coughed into the sink. And I stood in shock when I saw a huge amount of blood coming out of my mouth.

I was again trying to catch my breath, but nothing was working. Immediately Nathan rushed into the toilet and grabbed hold of me.

"Elyssa calm down!" He was shouting.

"Nathan... I can't!" I said in between coughs. I turned into the sink and coughed out more blood. My face had become pale and blue from lack of oxygen in my body. I could feel my head spinning around. I knew I was going to collapse.

Nathan grabbed hold of my hand and squeezed it hard. He pulled me against him.

"Elyssa, Breathe with me. Please!" He said.

"I can't!!" I let out.

He carried me into his room and placed me on the bed. He made me lie down and quickly ran to get something. I was suffocating from everything that was happening. He quickly came in with a syringe and a vial and poked it right into my chest.

Slowly, my cough started reducing and I just stayed there breathing hard. He had grabbed hold of my arm and again and tried his best to calm me down. Soon everything came back to normal.

"Thank you" I whispered.

"What happened?" He asked.

"I don't know!" I shrugged. He looked very scared.

"I better go!" I said getting up and making my way to the door.

"Elyssa.." He whispered. I turned to look at him.

"I love you" He whispered loud enough for me to hear.
