Rhena's gaze lingered a little longer at the blue clear sky, trying to keep her thoughts at bay. She tried to keep her eyes open, trying to ignore the fact that her lack of sleep was getting to her. However, she shook her head, as if it was nothing. She would rest soon, and that was all she needed to hold on to.

In the background, she could hear her brother going on about his new school, telling her how much he liked it, much more than Mystic Falls. She smiled, knowing he needed this change. Even though she missed him and her sister a lot, at least she knew they were safe and away from the danger the town could easily put them in.

As his words began to echo on the phone line, Rhena pressed her back against the cold stone wall. She fidged her necklace that was dangling from her neck when she suddenly began to hear shuffling in the other line, causing her to freeze and try to decipher who had just entered her brother's room. It wasn't Indira, because she had just spoken to her before going over to her new friend's house. However, because she could guess, she heard Asher's tired sigh.

"Hey, Rhen" he awkwardly called, and she instantly knew what was about to happen, making her close her eyes with frustration "mom wants to talk to you"

Rhena didn't say anything, and neither did Asher. The two were different in many ways, personality wise, but when it came to a specific problem regarding their family, it was like they shared one mind. Upon not hearing an affirmation nor a protest, Asher had no other option than to pass the phone to their mother, someone who she hadn't talked to since their last argument.

"Hello, Rhena" Amelia greeted, clearing her throat in an attempt to disregard the tension "how are you?"

Rhena opened her eyes, taking a deep breath in "I'm alright"

"That's great, honey" Amelia smiled lightly, and Rhena's gaze took comfort in the clouds outside her window "your dad told me you went back to Morgana"

Rhena scoffed lightly "are you two buddies now or just bonding over my departure?"

"Watch your mouth, Rhena" her mother spoke in a careful tongue "you're going to get burned some day"

"Yeah, well, don't worry about that, that'll be my problem, not yours" Rhena shrugged, her hand forming into a fist without really noticing.

"How's Morgana treating you?" Amelia asked, not addressing her previous answer.

"The usual" she looked at the floor, letting go of her fist "look, i'm sorry, but I have to go-"
