The only noise around her was the running water as it collided with the floor. The room was steamy, as foggy as her mind. Her eyes were looking into an empty spot in the wall, without expression or sign.
Inside her, her heart beat. That was by far the most she had felt the past couple of days. Everything was different, yet it didn't look like it. She didn't know where it was a good thing or a bad thing.
"I need to talk to you" her own voice echoed in her mind as memories came back.
Her hand clenched the exfoliant sponge tightly as the shaking started again. Trying to make it stop, she began to scrub her skin harder until it looked red. She needed to take the tainted blood out of her.
"What's going on?" he asked, letting go of the stuff in his hands.
"I..." she looked down, her lip trembling as she tried to get it out "there's something you need to know"
"Know what?"
A small cry left her lips as she kept scrubbing. No one told her the stains of blood were hard to get out. As if it was going to cleanse her whole being, she stood under the hot water, eyes closed. The water ran under her like the blood she had spilled.
"Please sit down"
"Rhena" he called, but she couldn't look at him "what is it?"
She pursed her lips, letting out a shaky breath. He looked at her, the cuts and bruises on her face and body were becoming more evident.
With a deep breath, she sat in the arm of the couch, in front of the chair he was in.
"It's about dad"
Cade frowned, not understanding.
She turned off the water, not wanting to hear it's sound anymore. All she wanted was peace, so she stood there, unblinking.
Even though no one was pressuring her, she knew she had to get out eventually. But there just wasn't any energy in her to move.
"What about dad? Have you talked to him yet?"
Her face crumbled, not saying anything. Tears began to form in her eyes, her stomach turning nervously, afraid of the reaction.
