chapter forty-three҉ ҉ ҉
The moment Rhena opened her eyes, her heart felt a little heavier than before. The muscles in her body grew tense, and her gut was slowly raising in nervousness. It was a little whisper, an ill soft melody, a warning. Something was going to happen.
Rhena couldn't quite understand what the message was, or even predict it. It felt different, but it was there. Slowly creeping from behind her, ready to jump and attack her by surprise.
When she sat in the bed, she looked around, just making sure everything was in place; her stuff, the furniture, the traps. She had to be extremely careful and don't let her guard down. One slip was all it took, and she wasn't going to make that mistake.
With a strong effort, she began to change and get ready for the day. This was going to be the day she continued with her plan, she needed to find information about her, hidden in her aunt's possessions. She needed to find a way in and a way out without being noticed. But first, she needed to find the place where it all was hidden. The red room, or as she called it since she was a little girl, the panic room.
The moment she was ready, she put everything back in its place and took a small dagger that she had taken from the armory. She knew how to use it, but that didn't mean she wanted to. With a last look on the room, she got out, locking it and putting the key to the room in her boot. The dagger was in the other one, ready to be used if needed. Her eyes looked down as she grasp her jacket tightly through her pockets, a thin bag hanging from her shoulder. Everything was going to be okay if she just believed it.
The sound of voices and metal against metal invaded her ears as soon as approached the main hallway. It made her nervous seeing them train for something. But she kept her eyes in front and her plan in sight, one step at a time and everything could be resolved.
Rhena was about to get a light breakfast before go to her aunt's office directly. She couldn't passed out before executing her plan, which consisted on having a conversation to distract Morgana and allow her to get in unnoticeable. Suddenly, someone stood in her path, causing her to stop in her tracks and look up.
Isaac was watching her, a soft look in his face. Like he wanted to something to happen. All he wished was for her cold behavior to stop and go back to him, like it was before. But the before was long dead.
"Rhena—"
"Do you need something?" she asked, not looking at him anymore. Isaac sighed, but shook his head.
