Goldenpaw looked down to see that Lostpaw was back.
Oh look! The cat who ditched me is back! Goldenpaw thought. He didn't feel like talking to Waterfang so he decided to listen to the rain and fall asleep.

*Lunar time skip*

Goldenpaw's back was better, and he started moving around again when Waterfang let him out. It was sore but it wasn't as bad as before.

"Are you feeling better, Goldenpaw?" Moonpaw meowed softly, padding up to him.

Goldenpaw nodded. He didn't feel like talking to any cat after the attack with SwoopClan. The time in the tunnels also made him get used to so much silence. When he lived there he loved just listening to the river ripple, not hearing anything but rushing water. Every once and a while, a thought came to his head. Should I go back? Every time he whisked his tail to go on with the day.

A blast that shook the whole forest was heard. Not even a heartbeat later, Diamondclaw stumbled into camp with a small hole blasted through his chest.

As Diamondclaw lowered to the ground, gagging out blood, he whispered, "T- take care of the c-camp, please..." Then he lay limp on the ground.

"Waterfang!" Whitestar yowled. It sounded like a demand, but fear was visible in his eyes.

Waterfang rushed to Dimondclaw. Giving him a shake, the medicine cat lowered his head.

"I'm sorry. MountainClan, there is nothing I can do. His fate is in the paws of Starclan."

Letting out sad murmurs, the Clan lowered their heads to follow Whitestar.

Whitestar ran over to Dimondclaw. "No! Don't... StarClan..."

Putting his ear on his chest, Whitestar froze. His eyes filled with sadness as he buried his face into Diamondclaw's fur.

"He's gone..." Whitestar sobbed.

*sad Lunar time skip*

A while had passed sense Diamondclaw's death and still no deputy. Cats had been complaining about it a lot, saying it was a bad omen.

"Moonpaw!" Goldenpaw yowled. "Come here!"
"Who do you think Whitestar will appoint to be the new deputy?"

Moonpaw ran over, twining her grey tail into Goldenpaw's ginger one. "I don't know... It has to be someone tough and smart!"

"All cats old enough to climb the mountains gather here for a Clan meeting!"
Whitestar yowled from his rock, his tail flicking idly.

The apprentices rushed over to the hollow under the rock. They were neck and neck once they reached the meeting spot. Moonpaw tripped over Goldenpaw's tail, but he caught her at the last second with his paws. Her eyes met with his, and after a moment he looked away and Moonpaw sat up, awkwardly hiding a smile.

"I have decided who the next deputy will be..." the leader meowed, almost too soft for any cat to hear.

All the warriors looked nervous. Flamefur closed his eyes and held his breath, his fur flattened.

"I say these words before StarClan, so that the spirits of our warrior ancestors and Diamondclaw may hear and approve of my choice. The new deputy of MountainClan is Ravenwing." Whitestar meowed, awaiting his reply.

Ravenwing's eyes widened and he mumbled for a second. "It's an honor!"

Goldenpaw thought. Ok. Ravenwing. He's smart and agile and a perfect deputy.

"Goldenpaw," Lostpaw grumbled.

"What now?!" Goldenpaw hissed, turning around as time stopped.

Lostpaw looked at him and chuckled. "I just wanted to say I'm pretty sure you and Moonpaw will become mates."

Goldenpaw's ears burned. "You're as mad as a fox in a fit,"

"Hey, if I lost my mind I would be Lostmind, not Lostfur." the shadow meowed, smirking.

Goldenpaw snickered at the joke. Lostpaw eventually muffled a few of his laughs.

*Lunar time skip! Wait, why is it called this again?*

"Goldenpaw! I need to talk to you." a voice meowed. As he turned around he saw Coldwind.

Flicking his ears, he replied. "What do you need?"

"I want to ask you something! Last sun-rise I saw you by the apprentice den. Then, when I blinked, I saw you in front of the camp entrance. How did you do that?"
She mewed curiously, her tail seeming to wave off Goldenpaw's tone.

His eyes flashed. Someone almost found out about my power! "Ask Waterfang!"

With those words, he dashed in the other direction. As he skidded to a halt by the apprentice den, he saw only Moonpaw there.

She smiled warmly. "Hi, Goldenpaw."

He grumbled a greeting and settled down.

"Flamefur said we have the moonhigh patrol! We should get some sleep!"

"Really? It's been so long since I've been on a patrol." the golden apprentice said, his mind wandering on every possibility why a moonhigh patrol would exist.

Moonpaw was already getting comfortable im her nest. Shifting over and adding moss to hers, it seemed strongly hinted that she wanted him to sleep with her. Goldenpaw's fur burned. I'm gonna get humiliated for this, but I do like her. Another thought crossed his mind. No, I love her! He smiled warmly and shuffled down. Moonpaw smiled, laying her tail over him (UwU) As he closed his eyes, he felt a lick on his cheek.

His eyes shot open to see Moonpaw looking at him and smiling nervously, her ears seemingly darker. He stopped and licked her grey fur. She looked back at him, surprised. But in a good way.

Then they both closed their eyes. Although sleeping, he could hear his denmates snicker at him being with Moonpaw. It's fine, I'll tease them when they get a mate.

(I'm sorry for the "short chapter". We got some good Golden x Moon in here! Oh, and, stop thanking me, I fixed the chapter, Lunar.
             Signed, Nightfall)
