3. GroupChat

Ciara's POV

I woke up and saw my phone had over 50 messages, meaning Riele must've added me to the group chat. I sat up, confused at what happened before I fell asleep, and then realized I must've fell asleep after hanging up on Kyla.

I checked my messages to see if there were any that weren't from the group chat, and I noticed a number that I didn't have stored as a contact.

"Hey it's Jace" the number said
Upon seeing it I responded , saying hello back.

I fully unlocked my phone so that I could call Kyla. She answered, and I screamed as soon as she did.

"Girl it's too early for this, what happened?" She asked
"Jace texted me" I replied, practically wheezing

I watched Kyla's eyes shoot wide open.
"No way!" she exclaimed, excited for me.

"Yes way! Maybe I actually do have a chance"

"Aren't you gonna see him at the studio today?" Kyla asked me.

"Yeah I am, we're shooting the burning building scene." I said "I just hope I don't do anything embarrassing in front of him"

"What could you possible do? Fart?" Kyla asked sarcastically
"Well now that you say that-"
"Girl stop it I was playing" Kyla said laughing "You'll be fine".

"Yeah you're right, but I have to start getting ready now to head over to the studio. I'll talk to you later friend!"

"Okay friend! Bye" Kyla said
And with that I hung up

Jace and I were getting ready to shoot the final cut of the burning building scene, this time with a sturdier table.

Everything was going smoothly. I was now about to pretend to fall while the rope machine swung Jace by me so he could catch me. They placed a bed at the bottom in case some malfunction happened.

Henry was supposed to catch Cara then make intimate eye contact with her. Shortly after that, Captain man would intervene.

However when Jace caught me, it felt different. It was like a rush of emotions came over me. Instead of making eye contact, my eyes made contact with his lips, and his eyes made contact with my lips.

The room suddenly became silent. It was like everyone was waiting to see what would happen, time stood still.

Then he leaned in and kissed me. I couldn't believe that I just had my first kiss with Jace Norman. It just felt so right, so romantic. I could've passed out in that moment.

The room echoed with "awe" and "ou".

"Was that not what my character was supposed to do?" Jace asked.
Upon hearing that my heart dropped.

"No, it wasn't" the director said.
"Let me see your lines"

Jace jogged to his dressing room, and came back within less than a minute with his lines in his hand. Everyone huddled over his paper as he pointed to the part that instructed him to kiss me.

"See" Jace said "right there it says 'and they kiss' so that's what I did"

"That doesn't seem right. Let me look at my copy" the director said as he pulled out a packet.

"Mine says you guys make intimate eye contact, then Captain Man swoops in"

"So someone must've changed mine then?" Jace asked, confused.

"Yeah, now that I look at it, your writing looks dimmer than mine. It seems like someone changed it in the computer. I'll have security check the Fax room cameras" the Director said

As he said that, an indescribable emotion appeared across Riele's face. It was like worry, or confusion, or is she just tired?

"Well you know, I think that's enough rehearsal for the kids today anyways" Cooper [captain man] said.

I sighed and began walking to my dresser when Jace tried to stop me.

"Ciara! Wait!"
"What Jace?" I said in an annoyed, but not rude tone
Confusion spread across Jace's face and he raised an eyebrow; "Are you okay?" he asked me
"I'm fine" I said with a high pitched sigh following. "I'll talk to you later okay?" I said leaving, without waiting for a response.

I was sitting on the edge of my bed, arms crossed, with my headphones in when I heard a knock on my door.

"Come in" I said as I rolled my eyes
"Hey baby" my mom said "is there something wrong?"
"No" I said harshly "I'm fine".

"Ciara you're my daughter. I know when somethings wrong with you. Did something happen on set?" My mom asked me

I sighed because I knew my mom wasn't going to give up until I told her what was up. Maybe she was the best person to talk about this with.

"I just had my first kiss on set today with Jace" I said as my mom's eyes went wide

"—and it wasn't apart of anybody's script, but apparently it was apart of his. So what I thought was a magical moment, was actually just scripted to him. I feel like I've been betrayed, lied to-" my mom cut me off

" well technically you weren't betrayed or lied to. If it was in his script, then him kissing you was really just him doing his job. Maybe the way he went about with it might've hurt you, especially if it wasn't in anybody else's script. But do you think that maybe, just maybe, someone could've put it there?"

"But who would do that?" I asked. "Jace is probably the cutest boy on set. Why would anybody want him to kiss me, and not them?" I asked.

"Well that would depend on who did it, how close they are to Jace, and the motive behind it. If Jace ever said he liked you or that he thought you were cute to Sean or Riele, then maybe one of them wanted to see it happen. Or who knows, maybe Jace did it himself?" My mom suggested

I quickly dismissed that idea. "Jace wouldn't do that" I said. "Especially seeing how he reacted. But it's whatever mom, I guess I was lucky to have even shared one kiss with him, staged or not"

My mom looked at me with what I would assume is sympathy. She rubbed my knee and got up to leave my room.

"That was just my take on it babygirl" my mom said. "It's your call. You decided what you think happened, and if you want to fix it with Jace. It's not worth losing a friendship over, and who knows? It could've just been a miscommunication thing"

"Thanks mom" I said

"You're welcome baby. Sleep well" my mom said. With that she shut off my light and closed the door.
