With the whole tour of the school and payments all finished, the three left the building with Grace's uniform. Obviously, there were a few things they couldn't buy from the school, like shoes. But this was Olivia's excuse to spoil her daughter.
"Well, enjoy your girls shopping day, I'll probably be at Jason's. But I'll see you later, baby." Jeff spoke, kissing his wife goodbye and squeezing his daughter. So Olivia set off to multiple stores, letting Grace choose her favourite school shoes, hairbands and clips. She had such an amazing day with her daughter, she felt like nothing could ruin her day. But it was as if it happened on purpose.
As she was driving home, she received a call from her sister-in-law, Tallulah.
"Hey, Lu. How's you and Nick?" Olivia asked, parking her car.
"Olivia this is urgent, you need to fly back to Illinois. Nick's in hospital." She spoke frantically. Her voice sounded dry, like she'd been crying for hours.
"Oh my God! What happened?" She asked.
"He crashed on the way home from work, he was unresponsive when the ambulance got there but still breathing." She explained. "There was another car involved but he sped off."
"I'll be down as soon as possible, keep me updated." Olivia spoke. Tears falling down her face, she took her daughter inside and called Jeff.
"Jeff, you need to come home." Olivia cried, putting her things on the island down and letting her daughter find her way to her playroom.
"Of course, I'll be there in 10. Is everything okay?" He asked. Even with this situation, his voice managed to calm her.
"It's Nick."
