Leaves from the towering trees created a sound due to the harsh gust of the wind, I was baffled, horrified that it was one of the royal guards catching me. The wintry and frigid breeze of the forest made me shiver even more, aside from the tension and adrenaline that's circulating my body at this moment.
With my right hand, I dust off the snowflakes from my face, covering my vision. A wide trunk welcomed me as soon as I have a clearer sight, which made me stop from my tracks.
Narinig ko ang mga yabag ng mga kawal na humahabol sa akin, kaya agad akong dumaan sa gilid ng malaking puno at hindi muna pinansin ang mga nyebeng bumabalot sa akin.
Nahirapan akong magpatuloy na tumakbo pagkalagpas ko sa malaking puno dahil sa dilim ng paligid. The moon cannot emit its light as the clouds silently cover the lucid sky.
This night was supposed to be calm and tranquil, just like any other night that we were used to have.
Dapat nasa mahimbing na kaming pagkakatulog. We were supposed to be dreaming right now. Ngunit isang masamang bangungot ang nangyayari ngayon.
Instead of pleasantly lying in bed, I found myself running away from home.
They're chasing me, mahahabol na nila ako, masasayang ang sakripisyo nila ate...
Dahil sa mga luha ko ay lumabo ang aking paningin, hindi ko na nakita ang malaking ugat ng puno na nasa harapan ko, dahilan kung bakit ako natumba.
Mas lalo akong naiyak nang tahimik sa sakit nang pagkakatumba ko. Tears flow relentlessly more because of the hopelessness that I'm feeling right now.
Pagod na akong tumakbo, pagod na akong tumakas, sobrang sakit na ng katawan ko sa pagod at lamig.
Pero hindi nila ako pwedeng mahuli, masasayang lang ang sakripisyo ng pamilya ko para lang makatakas ako.
I heard their footsteps coming nearer, I'm expecting them to see me lying here on the ground already. Gusto 'kong tumayo at tumakas, pero bakit ayaw gumalaw ng paa ko?!
Nandito na sila, mahuhuli na nila ako, this is my end...
"Wala dito! Tignan niyo sa kabila, baka doon tumakbo!" The royal guards shouted. Their heavy treads became faint as they ran away on the opposite direction.
Bahagya akong natigilan, I was stunned. Hindi nila ako nakita na naka-halandusay dito sa lupa, tumakbo sila paalis. Hindi nila ako nahuli.
Lumingon ako pabalik at nakitang wala na sila. Confirming that no one is around anymore, kahit nanghihina, pinilit 'kong tumayo at tumakbo paalis sa lugar na iyon.
Hindi ko alam kung ilang oras na akong tumatakbo, napansin ko na rin ang pagbabago ng aking paligid. The snow and cold environment was gone. The air was humid and the coldness of the breeze lessened. I can already see the fullness of the moon and a sea of stars above. Maybe I'm already outside of Corinthia.
My body gave up on its own, which made me fall on the ground. Hinabol ko ang hininga ko habang umaasang wala nang nakasunod sa akin. But that's what I thought.
Akala ko ay nakatakas na ako, ngunit naramdaman ko ang ibang presensya sa paligid bukod sa akin. Inikot ko ang paningin ko upang hanapin ang taong nandito bukod sa akin.
"Sinong nandyan?!" I shouted, but no one answered. I shouted once more, and someone emerged from the dark.
She's wearing a black cloak, covering her whole body and her head. She then removed the hood and revealed her face, and with a deep-set eyes, furrowed lips, and long wavy hair, she stared at me.
"You must be the girl," she uttered coldly.
Mabilis siyang nakalapit sa akin nang hindi ko namamalayan. It was fast, ni hindi manlang ako nakakurap sa sobrang bilis niya.
Although she looked familiar, nakalimutan ko na kung saan ko siya huling nakita. Hindi ko alam ang dapat 'kong gawin. Will she help me? Kasabwat ba siya ng mga kawal? May kailangan din ba siya sa'kin?
"A-Anong kailangan mo sa akin?" Nangangatal 'kong tanong. I don't have the energy to run away anymore. I don't even have the power to protect myself. Hindi ko alam kung anong mangyayari sa akin kung sakaling sugurin niya ako ngayon.
Lumuhod siya sa harapan ko kaya naging magka-level kaming dalawa. I can feel immense power coming from her, her presence screams as if telling me it's a bad idea to mess with her.
"Marami. You'll be the key for everything."
Turan niya na hindi ko naintindihan. Tinaas niya ang kanyang kamay at tinapat sa akin kung saan may lumabas na puting liwanag.
"You'll be going through a lot, it's a tragedy out there. But for now, sleep."
Those were her last words before I lost my consciousness.
