"So, you are special?" Asked the boy, coated with thick clothingsdue to the cold weather. His wine-almost-black hair was already covered in snow, yet his fiery crimson eyes remained as if it was flickering.
It was snowing. The royal garden was almost painted in white, the plants and trees were protected by magic for them not to freeze and wither throughout the whole winter.
The girl in a royal gown, with the same color as the dim sky, black that fades out in gray at the end and sparkled like stars, let out a scoff. "I am different, not special. That was two different things," she told him and chuckled in sarcasm. "Everyone is different anyway, and I am far from being special. Flawed, I could be."
She shivered as the wintry breeze passed by, the little prince noticing her discomfort. He went beside her and started to emit fire from his hands. Her eyes locked on the vehement and beaming flame, which brings warmth and relief to her.
"I'd like to believe that it's the same thing. Do you know the saying that everyone is different on their own, and that somehow makes them special?" The boy stated.
"What a lame, old phrase," she snickered sarcastically, but was taken aback when she saw him staring at her intently.
"Maybe you don't believe it because you don't even see yourself as special."
The both of them went silent as the snow continued to pour through the night, with the two of them watching the garden being slowly blanketed in white.
"You accept how different you are, why can't you accept being special?"
My family never didn't told me how special I was when I was a kid. There were a lot of instances where I would feel different from them, from what a normal mage would be. They would always tell me that it's a part of being an exceptional kid.
But with the things happening in my life now, and now that the family that used to tell me these things are normal are gone, hindi ko alam ang dapat kong maramdaman sa pagiging iba sa lahat, in being different. It was too good to believe you're special, not until you knew it was a different kind of special, far from the good things that define that word.
Hanggang ngayon ay nakatitig pa rin ako sa badge sa aking kamay. Hindi pa rin ako nakaka-recover sa nangyari sa loob ng hall, from the pain that the platform brought to the rank that I've got.
How could I be an esimies? There must be something wrong with this. I shook my head and hid the diamond badge in my pocket.
When I got out of the hall, an empty corridor welcomed me, hanging with lavish chandeliers that seemed so fragile, as if a single touch could break them. There were pillars located in a row and exquisite paintings hung on the walls in between, as well as primitive and fragile figurines displayed beneath each frame.
