50 First Dates

Caden's POV
Did she just say what I think she said?? I don't know if I should be sad or glad. I feel sorry for Steve and all but maybe I have a second chance. Steve is speechless, he's just staring at her.
"You really don't remember me? Nothing at all?" Steve choked out.
"I'm sorry. Should I?" Shelby asked looking around the room.
"Yeah. We were dating." Steve looked in her eyes hoping she would remember.
"I'm sorry I just don't remember. I remember going to Tulsa and meeting Soda at the DX." She smiled.
"I was with Soda that day." Steve was trying to get her to remember.
"Really? I could've swore it was just Soda. Caden come here." She motioned me over. I hesitated but slowly walked over.
"Yeah?" I said nervously.
"Lean down here." I leaned down.
"I think that Steve guy is crazy. I would never date anyone else besides you." She whispered in my ear.
"Yeah. Crazy huh?" I whispered back. What else was I suppose to say? I could feel Steve glaring at me. Thank God looks can't kill. I heard a loud bang. I turned around and Steve was banging his fist in the wall. He stormed out.
"I better go." Soda said following him. Poor guy.
"What a nut job. Where did yall pick him up at?" Shelby chuckled. "Lay by me Caden." She patted the bed. I laid beside her.
"Hey I'm gonna go get the Doc." Greg said stepping out.
"Why is everyone being so quiet?" Shelby asked. "We should be partying."
"We're just in shock with the whole Steve thing that's all." Leah said.
"Look I'm sorry I don't remember him. But until I do, Caden's my boyfriend and always has been." She said running her fingers through my hair. How I've missed her touch. Sorry Steve but like she said, I'm her boyfriend and always have been.
Steve's POV
I can't believe this!! Well, then again I can. I knew she was to good to be true. Now she'll go off and marry Caden and never remember me and leave me here with all the memories. I want to kill Caden but I can't. If I kill him I'll hurt her and even if she remembers me she'll hate me forever. I don't know which one would be worse, her hating me or not remembering me. It's official....my life sucks. I can't stand here and watch her look at him like she use to look at me. I storm to the door and bang my fist in the wall a few times. I'm just a little dramatic. I run out of the room. I find the same corner I was in the last time Shelby was in here. I swear she's so accident prone. I hear footsteps behind me. I turn around.
"It's just me Steve. Super Soda here to save the day."
"I'm not in the mood for your jokes Soda."
"Sorry buddy. I know this must be hard on you. I can't imagine going through this."
"It's okay. How can she not remember me?? She remembers the rest of you."
"People usually forget the most important things."
"But she remember Greg."
"But Steve you're the one she loved. She stood up for you against Greg. She'll remember. It might take days, weeks, months, maybe even years but she will. It'll hit her one day and she'll drop Caden on the spot and come running to you."
"Wow Soda that was deep man."
"I heard Ponyboy read something like that before." He smiled.
"What do I do know?"
"You get back in there and man up." He popped the p. "Ask the doctor ways to get her to remember faster."
"You're right." I admitted.
"When have I ever been wrong before??"
"Well..."
"Don't answer that question." I busted out laughing. He can make anyone laugh no matter what the situation. We walked back to the room. When I got there what I saw made me sick, Shelby was all snuggled up to Caden. I looked at Soda. He read my mind, nodded at me, and pushed me through the door. About that time Greg and the doctor came in.
"Well Miss Shelby I must say you surprised me."
"I'm full of surprises doc." She grinned.
"That's true Shelby. That is true. I'm going to give you a check and ask some questions ok?"
"Ok."

"Everything seems to be okay considering what you've been through. Now the big question....do you remember everything?" I wanted to scream out how she forgot me but I wanted to hear her say it.
"Nope." What does she mean nope?!?! She forgot me!!!
"She forgot about her boyfriend Steve and thinks she's still dating Caden." Greg piped in.
"Ouch." Doctor Bentley said.
"You're telling me." I mumbled.
"How do we get her to remember faster?" Soda asked. Thank God he's speaking for me.
"Take her places that were special for you two. Replay scenes. Go on the same dates. Basically you have to make her fall in love with you again."
"I was lucky the first time. How am I suppose to do it a second time?!" I was really panicking.
"I don't know son. I'm sorry."
"Looks like you're gonna have 50 first dates." Two-bit said then laughed at his own joke.
"Nobody asked for your two bits Two-bit." I grumbled realizing again why we call him Two-bit. He continued laughing.
"Um hello! I'm right here and you guys are talking about me like I'm not." Shelby said with an attitude.
"Sorry babe." I said not realizing it.
"I'm not your babe." She said sternly. Ouch.
"I'm sorry it slipped. I didn't mean to." I was mentally slapping myself. Now she hates me and doesn't remember me. 50 first dates it is.

Sorry it took forever and it's not that long. I'll update again just to make it up to you guys. I promise it's far from over. What do you think is gonna happen next??
