For what they were about to do, Chloe stayed behind. No one wanted her mixed up in the world of the Supernatural any more than she already had. So it was down to Lucifer, Maze, Rayna and a few of her Vampire friends if needed.
The road from Los Angeles to New Orleans was a long one - almost thirty hours to be precise. But finally, they were there, in the French Quarter - otherwise known as one of Rayna's old stomping grounds.
"I can't believe you chose Los Angeles over this place." Rayna shook her head as she drove Lucifer's Corvette through the brightly coloured streets, the sound of numerous forms of Jazz music filling their ears.
"It was a bit of a toss-up, I'll admit." Lucifer shrugged.
"And Los Angeles won? Lucifer, you disappoint me." Rayna smirked, keeping her eyes on the road.

Eventually, they reached the building in which they would be staying. It belonged to Rayna's friends - three ancient Vampire siblings.
"Niklaus." The Heretic smiled warmly at the sight of her sire, who had greeted them at the huge double front doors.
Niklaus Mikaelson - a thousand year old Werewolf/Vampire hybrid. His messily short dirty blonde hair ruffled in the humid Louisiana breeze as he approached the first Vampire he'd ever created.
They embraced in a tight and familiar hug.
"I've missed you, love." He purred in her ear, his learned English accent soothing Rayna immediately.
"I've missed you too." She replied.

Inside, the Heretic made the introductions to Lucifer, Maze, Niklaus and his siblings Elijah and Rebekah, who were regular Vampires.
Regular in the loosest term, however. They were the Original Vampires. They had the ability to compel other Vampires, they were stronger, they were faster and, most importantly, they were trusted allies.
"I never thought I'd be alive when I met the Devil." Niklaus thought aloud.
"Come on, Nik. Before now, you were convinced you were the Devil." Rebekah rolled her eyes.
"From the stories I've heard from Rayna, you would be a good fit to rule Hell." Lucifer said.
"Injustice complexes are something we have in common, mate." Klaus smirked, handing the Devil and company a glass of Bourbon.
"Shall we get to the matter at hand?" Elijah stepped up.
"Uh, yes. Of course." Rayna replied nervously. "We're dealing with a Witch-turned-Vampire I sired during the Battle of Culloden - Andrew MacKenzie. He and his brother are trying to resurrect their mother, father and younger sister using a talisman. I'm not sure who made it or why they felt a New Orleans Witch would be a good substitute for me. All I know is that we need to stop them before the whole family wreaks Hell on Earth."
"Then our best bet would probably be Lafayette one." The ancient bright blonde sister nodded.

At Lafayette Cemetery Number One, the group were greeted with the sounds of low murmuring.
In the centre of the acres of tombs, the Witches were hard at work.
"Fail this, yer Witch dies. If yer Witch dies, you all die too. Ye ken how it works." Andrew's voice shouted, echoing amongst the various graves and cenotaphs.
"Of course..." Rayna whispered. "She's a Coven leader. That explains why she was only living in that apartment on a temporary lease."
"What's so special about a Coven leader?" Maze asked.
"Nothing especially, unless your coven is like mine or the ones found in the French Quarter. The rest of the coven shares a lifespan with the leader and with the energy of their ancestors. Together, they can live for a couple of centuries and have covens of Witches in the hundreds. The only problem is, if the Coven leader dies and another one isn't put in their place almost immediately, the whole coven dies."
"Think honey bees and their queen." Rebekah added. "Except a little more sinister."
Lucifer and Maze nodded in understanding simultaneously.

Meanwhile, Andrew stood at the altar of the largest tomb in the cemetery.
James stood behind him with his fangs at River Beaumont's throat.
By the time Rayna and the group reached it, the Witches performing their spell like a dance to activate the talisman.
"What's the plan?" Maze whispered, peering round at the scene unfolding before them.
"Niklaus, you go after James, get River away from him. Threaten his life if you have to. Elijah and Rebekah, you try and stop the witches from casting the spell and get the talisman; if you can, destroy it. Lucifer and Maze, you're with me." Rayna said in a hushed tone.
The group nodded and went to work.
As if choreographed, Niklaus used his Vamp speed to run at James, ripping River from his arms and sending her crashing into one of the tombs. She instantly lost consciousness.
That saved Elijah and Rebekah half their job. They used their speed to grab the talisman from one of the Witches. Elijah went for the Witch, holding her still as Rebekah snatched the pendant from her.
On que, Rayna, Lucifer and Maze revealed themselves from behind the tomb they had been concealing themselves with.
"Andrew!" Rayna shouted, angrily.
"I was wonderin' when you were gunna show up, lass." He snarled. "Though I'll be honest, I wasn't expecting you to figure it out this quickly."
"Process of elimination." Rayna glared. "Stop this, Andrew. Leave your family to rest in peace."
"My family died for nothing!" Andrew roared. "And I vowed to them that we would raise Hell on the English scum who dared cut us down."
"Sorry, sorry, just got to butt in here." Lucifer piped up, stepping forward past Rayna. "I'll have you know, the only person who can raise Hell is me and, since I don't much like you or your antics, I'm afraid Hell is going to stay exactly where it is."
Andrew simply sneered as a response.
"Maze." Rayna turned to the Demon. "Remember what we spoke about in the elevator?"
Maze smirked. "How could I forget?"
"Go nuts."
At Rayna's words, Maze gave a menacing look towards Andrew as she unsheathed her knives.
As Maze and Andrew fought, Rayna jogged over to Rebekah, taking the talisman from her.
"It won't break." The Original Vampire told her.
"I suspected as much. It's spelled." The Heretic sighed. "Don't worry. I've got this."
"How are you going to do that?" Lucifer asked.
"There are only so many Heretics in the world for a reason. We were originally a special kind of Witch called Siphoners. Siphoners only come from my coven; the Gemini Coven. We can't use our own magic; only siphon it from other magical beings and objects. When a normal Witch becomes a Vampire, they lose their magic, but when a Siphoner becomes a Vampire, they siphon the magic Vampirism was created with and use it to keep their powers." Rayna explained. "I can siphon the magic out of this talisman."
Lucifer nodded. "Best get on with it then, my love."
The Heretic cupped the pendant in her hands and closed her eyes, trying to focus through the battle going on behind her.
In a matter of seconds, her balled up fists began to glow red. It was working.

Maze lunged at Andrew with all her might, but the Vampire was too quick.
But boy did she love a challenge.
Andrew ducked under one of Maze's Demon blades, but the other came swinging across, causing a deep slice in the Vampire's side.
"Why aren't I healing?" Andrew yelled, coming to a halt at a reasonably safe distance from his opponent.
Maze smirked, catching her breath. "They're Demon blades, idiot. They were forged in Hell with a magic far greater than the magic used to create your kind."
The Vampire snarled in response, taking a run up to go for her again.
The two pounced like a couple of feral cats, making hard contact in mid-air. They landed perfectly on their feet and continued their bloody brawl.
They struggled and tussled, retreating from the other's blows when necessary.
Maze, with her fists clenched tight around her Demon blades, pounded the Vampire's chest so hard that Andrew feared the worst.
And rightly so...
One last hard jab from Mazikeen and her fist lodged itself in Andrew's chest, making his cease all movements.
His face turned white with the realisation that he had been beaten and that this would be his end.
Maze took one look to Rayna just as the talisman shattered in the Heretic's hand from her siphoning.
Rayna looked up to Maze, then to Andrew, then back to Maze and slowly nodded.
Without even looking back at the Vampire in her grasp, Maze wrapped her fingers around his heart and pulled hard.
Andrew's body dropped to the floor.
Rayna walked up to him, the faint hint of a smile as his body slowly began to grey; pale veins littering his skin like imperfections in a statue.
Finally, her mistake had been undone.
"Brother!" James screamed in aguish, finding his strength in adrenaline to pull himself from Niklaus' grip.
He fell to his knees at his brother's side as Maze dropped the bleeding heart next to its owner.
"I'm sorry, James. Andrew was too dangerous to continue living." Rayna told him sympathetically.
"He was still my brother..." The younger sibling sobbed.
"I know..." Rayna nodded, her voice almost a whisper.

"Thank you for saving our coven." River Beaumont smiled, offering out her hand to Rayna. "Thank you all of you."
"You're most welcome, miss Beaumont." Rayna replied, taking the hand.
"This is a gift for you." She said, making Rayna realise that there was something in the hand she held. "For your baby."
Rayna's heart froze mid-beat.
She didn't dare look at Lucifer, fearing his reaction.
"Thank you." She almost whispered, turning to leave without looking at her love.

"Rayna." Lucifer's voice bellowed.
The Heretic was about twenty feet in front of the rest of the group, her pace only quickening at the sound of the Devil's tone.
"Rayna!" By the sound of that one, Rayna knew the Devil face wasn't far behind.
She stopped in her tracks, but didn't dare turn around.
"What did she mean 'baby'?" Maze asked.
"I..." Rayna started, but couldn't get the words out.
"A Vampire can't reproduce." Niklaus noted. "But a Witch can."
He'd more or less been told those words himself after he'd had a one night stand with a Werewolf named Hayley, producing their daughter Hope; the world's first Tribrid.
But even he knew this time was different. This was a Hybrid and the Devil.
Rayna finally looked Lucifer with a dam of tears waiting to burst.
"I meant to tell you sooner..." She sobbed, her body shaking with fear. "I didn't know how you'd react."
"I think we'd better talk about this back in LA." The Devil stated, his tone reasonably calm again.

Back at the Mikaelson Compound, things couldn't have been any more awkward.
The Original Vampires said their goodbyes to Lucifer and Maze, leaving Rayna for last.
"He'll warm to the idea." Rebekah reassured her. "Just give him time."
"I hope so." Rayna sniffed, hugging the Vampire tight.
Wasting no time, they got in the car - Lucifer offering to drive, mainly to distract himself from his thoughts and soon, they were on the long and silent road back to Los Angeles.
