When the three finally got back, they entered the penthouse to see Amenadiel.
"What are you doing here?" Lucifer snapped.
"I invited him." Rayna replied in a small voice.
"I think we should all sit down, have a drink and talk about this calmly, like adults." Amenadiel said, taking a seat on the couch. "This is exactly the sort of thing we wanted to avoid."
Lucifer's ears perked up. "You knew?"
"Oh shit..." Rayna whispered to herself.
"Remember when Rayna was sick and went missing whilst you were busy wiping our brother out of existence?" The Angel raised an eyebrow. Lucifer remained quiet. "That's what she went missing about. She was so distraught when she found out she was pregnant that she didn't know what to do. When I found her, she told me. We all know your opinion of children, Luci. With that and your Vampire problem, she didn't know how to tell you."
Lucifer turned to Rayna, instantly noting her body convulsing through sobs.
"I need to go." He uttered, instantly walking towards the elevator.
"Where are you going?" Rayna asked.
"I need to be alone." Was all he said before the doors slid closed.
Rayna turned to Amenadiel with panic in her eyes.
"If I know my brother, he'll go and find some club somewhere and come back with a semi-clear mind. Don't fret." The brother smiled reassuringly, getting up to walk over and give the Heretic a long, tight hug.

A week had passed with no word from Lucifer.
Rayna had been a wreck, spending her days in his bed.
"We need to do something." Chloe sighed as she sat in her apartment with Maze and Linda.
"She refuses to leave her bed. What the Hell are we supposed to do?" Maze crossed her arms.
"She's going through a fair amount of abandonment issues right now. We just need to be there for her and deal with the situation when Lucifer finally decides to show up again." Linda said.
"Do we know where Lucifer is?" Chloe asked.
"Last I checked, he was in Vegas. If it's anything like last time, he'll come back married to some stripper who isn't a stripper. But I doubt he'd do that to Rayna. The real question is how he's going to treat the situation when he does come back – whenever that will be." Maze replied.
"Hey mom, hey Maze, hey Linda!" Trixie beamed as she came through the door with her backpack lazily thrown over one shoulder.
"Hey Trix." Maze smiled.
"Hi guys." Dan sighed as he came through the front door. "Whatcha doing?"
"Trying to figure out what to do about Rayna." Chloe told him.
"Lucifer still not back?" He frowned.
Everyone shook their heads.
"Maybe I should go and cheer her up." Trixie suggested, bouncing onto the couch next to her mother.
"That might not be such a bad idea." Linda shrugged. "It'll distract her from Lucifer and give her some parenting pointers."
"Has anyone asked Rayna how she feels about being pregnant?" Trixie asked.
Everyone looked at her with slight shock.
She had a point.
No one had even thought to ask how she felt because everyone was too focused on Lucifer.
"I think I need to go round there." Linda finally spoke. "I have the expertise and I was the one who told her she was pregnant in the first place."
"You were?" Chloe exclaimed.
Linda nodded. "I feel partially responsible."

In the penthouse, Rayna was, unsurprisingly, exactly where she had been a week ago, only surrounded by a couple of dozen empty blood bags.
"Rayna?" Linda called out, gently.
The Heretic sat up in bed and rubbed her make-up-less, tear stained face.
"Hi Linda." She said, her voice sounding entirely drained. "What are you doing here?"
"I've come to see how you are, of course." Linda smiled, sitting on the edge of the bed. "So... How are you?"
Rayna sighed. "Stressed. Pregnant. Miserable."
Linda looked sympathetically at the Heretic.
"I'm sorry this is happening, sweetie." The Doctor paused for a moment. "I'm under the impression that no one's asked you how you feel about this baby."
Rayna looked up at her with watery eyes.
"I can't say I've even thought about it. There's so much to consider. What I'm actually pregnant with is the main thing. If this baby is anything like my sire's there'll be inactive Vampire genes, it'll be a Gemini Witch and an Angel." She shrugged.
"And the possibility of these genes frightens you?" Linda raised her eyebrow, going into full therapist mode.
"I don't like not knowing." The Heretic replied. "I'm too old to not know things."
"Just because you've seen a few centuries doesn't mean you should know everything there is to know about everything." Linda pointed out.
"No, but I should at least have some idea." Rayna countered.
Linda sighed. "Rayna, what is happening to you hasn't happened to anyone ever. It's okay to be a little panicked, especially with the Andrew situation and Lucifer being... Well, Lucifer. Perhaps getting out of bed would be a good start in coming to terms with everything?"
"Do you want to know what the coven in New Orleans gave me before we left?" Rayna asked.
Linda nodded.
The Heretic rose from her spot and went to the closet on Lucifer's side of the bed, pulling out a small shoebox.
She opened it, took out her desired item and got back into bed after putting the shoe box back.
Linda held out her hand to take it.
"What is it?" She wondered, seeing a tiny little egg, about the size of her index fingernail.
"It's traditionally used as a good omen for fertility and a successful pregnancy and birth. The expectant mother is supposed to crack it open and it'll reveal some of the future of you and your child. But this doesn't feel right. Its energy is dark. There's something dangerous about it." Rayna explained. "I'm scared to open it."
"Would you like me to open it with you?" Linda offered.
"No. It needs to be either me on my own or with Lucifer, as his DNA is currently inside me, forming our baby." Rayna shook her head.
"I see..." Linda frowned in thought. "Well, is there anything I can do for you? Whether it be today or in the future."
"No, it's fine. I need to go out and get some more blood. I think there's a blood drive at Venice Beach High, so I'm gunna go there." The Heretic replied.
Linda looked off to the side with wide eyes.
"Okay..." She trailed off, patting her thighs as she stood up. "Well, if you need me, I'm only a phone call away."
"Thank you, Linda."
Rayna got out of bed to see Linda to the elevator and, once she was gone, she got dressed into a loose white tank top, black skinny jeans and a pair of black suede ankle boots, then made her own way out.

After three weeks, Rayna had all but moved on. She was back to working cases with Chloe, fully utilising her unique skillset.
But everytime the Heretic got back to the penthouse, her gaze instantly fell to the tiny egg, which she had placed in a ring box on the piano.
She always found herself drawn to it like a magnet – always found herself staring at it and, by the time she looked away, a few hours had gone by.
Eventually, she cracked. Pun most certainly intended.
Rayna got in from finishing up her most recent case with Chloe and instantly went to the piano to grab the box before moving over to the bar to get a shot glass.
Hovering the egg over the glass, she took a deep breath.
"Here goes nothing." She said to herself.
After a couple of hesitations, the Heretic finally tapped the egg on the edge of the glass and pried it open.
To her confusion, there appeared to be nothing inside.
Rayna frowned, dropping the shell into the glass.
"Bloody NOLA Witches..." She grumbled, moving past the bar to lie down on the bed.

The days following, Chloe had found a fresh case for Rayna to take her mind off things, as she had been doing for over a month.
"Henry Porter, aged fifty-six. We're thinking this was a burglary gone bad." Chloe informed the Heretic, who was staring off into space. "Rayna... Rayna?"
"Huh? Yeah? Sorry." Rayna mumbled.
"You were miles away." Chloe chuckled.
"Italy, actually. Seventeen o' three."
"Sounds wonderful." The Detective smiled. "I'd love to hear some stories of your life sometime."
"Yeah, of course." Rayna nodded. "Anyway... Henry Porter?"
Chloe looked down to her case file. "Yeah. We think the robber was a newbie – he left fingerprints all over the place, but isn't in the system, plus his method was all over the place. I was wondering if you could do something Supernatural to help this case along."
Rayna looked over the case file, seeing images of the victim with his head bashed in.
The killer's weapon of choice had been a baseball bat, lazily thrown to the other side of the bedroom to the body.
As she looked over it, her vision suddenly started to become blurry and her balance was amiss.
"Rayna?" Chloe raised an eyebrow, grabbing the Heretic's arm to steady her. "Are you alright?"
"Um... Yeah, I think so." Rayna frowned.
"Is this what Vampire pregnancy is like?" The Detective wondered.
"Vampire pregnancy isn't a thing. So I have no idea." The immortal chuckled nervously.
Just then, a hot knife ripping sensation ripped through her abdomen.
She screamed as her knees buckled to the floor.
"Oh my God..." Chloe gasped, crouching down to help her. "What can I do? Tell me what I need to do."
"I need to get out of here." Rayna whimpered.
Chloe just nodded, helping her to her feet.
