Chapter Eleven

Peaceful World

The next morning Sumaey woke with the sun, Spirit entered her room, eager to see her.

'You're alright' he sighed.

'Of course I am' Sumaey grinned at him, turning towards him with her hand upon her hip.

She had been staring out the window, watching the sunrise higher in the sky.

'Why wouldn't I be ok?' she asked him. 'I've been sleeping in bed.'

It was at that moment that Graham came stomping into the room, stopping before the bed and sniffing it, before jumping on top of it with legs splayed outwards.

'Graham get off the bed' Sumaey scolded.

Loxus entered the room then, his metallic legs clicking on the floor. Sumaey turned back towards the bed, seeing the cat jumping onto the bed, walking around Graham who lay on his belly.

'Where is Waltz?'

'He's downstairs' Spirit replied. 'Apparently he was awake all night talking with Sydney. He is exhausted.'

When the others went downstairs they found Waltz lying on the sofa fast asleep and hugging himself.

Sydney appeared moments later to greet them. It was clear he had slept little, if at all, there were bags under his eyes, and he squinted at them as he spoke.

'I hope you all slept comfortably' he addressed.

'You didn't' Sumaey answered quickly.

'Is there anything you would like for breakfast?' Sydney asked them.

'Gaaaahhhhhhhhhrrrruuugggguuuuhhhhh.'

Waltz was slowly waking.

'Do you make an effort to be as loud and annoying as possible?' Sumaey asked, rounding on him with a glare.

'Shuchaface' he answered sitting up and groaning, hand going to his head. 'I want some olives. I'm hungry.'

'That's a strange request' Spirit mumbled under his breath.

'You will all have what you need and be completely satisfied when you leave' Sydney told them.

'Are you getting rid of us?'

'I want you to hurry to this place where you are to meet the pyromancer' Sydney replied. 'I want you to prepare. I have things to do, as do you.'

'I take that as a yes then' Waltz sighed, rising to his feet.

'I phrased it as nicely as possible.'

'Show me a table full of food' Waltz said to him. 'I'm hungry.'

A moment later, they were sitting down at the table (save for Loxus who sat in a corner – Graham stood at the table, and the cat had its own chair)

Waltz stared at the egg he had placed on the table beside him, the large one given to him by Andrew.

'I can't wait to see what's inside' he gleamed excitedly at it, whispering to himself.

'So, tell me about yourself' Sydney said addressing Sumaey now.

'There really is nothing for me to say' Sumaey admitted. 'I fell from the sky with no memories of any past or who I am. The only memories I have are the ones I share with Waltz.' Sydney glanced towards Waltz as she said this, but Waltz was still distracted by his precious egg, continuing to whisper to it. 'He promised me that if I were to join his silly guild' Sumaey continued, 'then he would help me find out who I am. So far, he has failed. But I don't mind' she added casting a glanced over towards him and smiling. 'I rather like this new life...though it can be dull at times. There is an awful lot of travelling that must be done. It often hurts your feet.'
