I let myself fall back and landed next to Nori, who gave me a stack of coins. "Here you go, lass," he said. "Thank you very much," I replied, putting the sack into my bag behind my saddle. Suddenly I heard Bilbo yelling. "Uh...wait, wait. Stop! Stop! We have to turn around." he yelled, we all stopped. "What on earth is the matter?" Gandalf asked. "I forgot my handkerchief," Bilbo replied searching through his pockets. "Here you go, Bilbo," I said riding next to him passing him a handkerchief that I had spare in my bag. "Move on!" Thorin commanded I smiled at Bilbo before I trotted forwards next to Balin. We traveled all day until we made camp on a cliff after I took care of Brego and the other Ponys I rolled out my spare blanket between the fireplace Gloin had set up and a huge rock. After a fine dinner made by Bombur, we all went to sleep soon after. I woke up in the middle of the night because of the heat caused by the fire next to me. I cursed and got up to moved my stuff a bit backward bumping into someone. that someone growled at me and when I looked behind me I saw Thorin sitting behind me. "I'm so sorry Thorin, the Fire was too warm and I had to move backward," I said apologizing over and over to him. "Move to another place," he ordered me. I took my stuff and moved next to Bilbo who seemed to be awake. "Can't sleep?" I asked him which he answered with a nod. "I'm sorry, got the same problem," I said while I fell on my back looking at the sky, and just as I was about to fall asleep A screechy noise made me shoot up in alert. It seemed I wasn't the only one alerted since Bilbo, Gandalf, and Bali were awake as well while it was Fili and Kilis's turn to keep watch. "What was that?" Bilbo asked Kili and Fili who heard it too. "Orcs," Kili replied. "Orcs?" Bilbo asked when I noticed a sneaky look from Fili and Kili who seemed to mess with the Hobbit. "Throat-cutters. There'll be dozens of them out there." Fili said to Bilbo while I slowly removed my blanket which was actually the beautiful green cloak I rode with. Elrond had given it to me as a present when I left Rivendell to travel around Middle Earth. "The lone-lands are crawling with them. They strike in the wee small hours when everyone's asleep. Quick and quiet, no screams. Just lots of blood." Kili added and started giggling with his older brother. Suddenly I heard Thorins voice who was angry at his nephews. "You think that's funny? Do you think a night raid by Orcs is a joke?" he asked the two youngest members. "We didn't mean anything by it," Kili replied regretting what he said. "No, you didn't. You know nothing of the world." Thorin answered his nephew. "And you don't know how it is to get attacked by Orcs," I said with a stern voice. I was talking about my father who got killed and beheaded by Orcs after a fight in the middle of the night while out camping in the wild, since then Brego had been the only thing I had to remember him. I stood next to my bed in front of the fire which led to huge shadows on Fili and Kili's side, with a swift movement I sat back down with my back towards the fire. "Don't mind him, laddie." I heard Balin saying towards Kili and Fili. "Thorin has more cause than most to hate orcs." He continued which let me think of my father. "After the dragon took the Lonely Mountain... ...King Thror tried to reclaim the ancient Dwarf kingdom of Moria. But our enemy had got there first. Moria had been taken by legions of Orcs... ...led by the vilest of all their race: Azog the Defiler. The giant Gundabad Orc... ...had sworn to wipe out the line of Durin. He began... ...by beheading the king. No! Thrain, Thorin's father, was driven mad by grief. He went missing. Taken prisoner or killed... ...we did not know. We were leaderless. Defeat and death... ...were upon us. That is when I saw him. A young Dwarf prince... ...facing down the Pale Orc. He stood alone against this terrible foe. His armor rent... ...wielding nothing but an oaken branch as a shield. Azog the Defiler learned that day... ...that the line of Durin would not be so easily broken. Our forces rallied... wand drove the Orcs back. And our enemy... ...had been defeated. But there was no feast... ...nor song that night... ...for our dead were beyond the count of grief. We few had survived. And I thought to myself then... ...there is one who I could follow. There is one... ...I could call the king." I listened to the Story Balin told which was a bit of shock, now that knew what Thorin had been through since Erebor was taken made me think. The next morning I was super tired but still got up, packed my stuff, and continued the journey.
