Thorin's POV
We lost her, I lost her. Nessa, the only female companion of this company, was dead or almost dead. Thanks to the Orc scum behind us chasing the heck out of us. "I'm sorry, Uncle," Kili said next to me. "It's not your fault, Kili. It was Nessa's decision," I told my nephew. Thanks to Gandalf, we were safe at the moment, but then we heard a horn from the outside, and fighting noises were nearby when something fell into the cave where we were hiding. An arrow was sticking out of his chest. "Elves," I growled, remembering the day Smaug attacked Erebor. "I can not see where the pathway leads. Do we follow it or not?" Dwalin said, who found a passageway at the back of the cave. "Follow it, of course!" Bofur said while the others agreed. "I think that would be wise." I heard Gandalf, which was probably to himself. We followed the narrow pass until we came onto a platform over a valley. "The Valley of Imraldis. In the Common Tongue, it's known by another name." Gandalf said, who appeared behind me. "Rivendell," Bilbo replied in a calm voice. "Here lies the last Homely House east of the sea," Gandalf proudly said. "This was your plan all along, to seek refuge with our enemy." I barked at Gandalf, knowing it was his fault that we were here without Nessa, who I knew would love to see it. "You have no enemies here, Thorin Oakenshield. The only ill-will in this valley is that which you bring yourself." Gandalf told me, mad since I refused the help we needed. "You think the Elves will give our quest their blessing? They will try to stop us." I told the wizard, knowing what would happen. "Of course, they will think about what we lost. Think about Nessa. She would want you to succeed in the quest. But we have questions that need answers. To succeed, it has to be with tact and respect and no small degree of charm. Which is why you will leave the talking to me." The Wizard said, leading us down a narrow path into the valley. It was beautiful here even though it was an elven home. My thoughts returned to Nessa, who would have loved it here, which made me sad. In a courtyard, we looked around when I heard a voice speaking. "Mithrandir." The Voice said it belonged to a black-headed elve slowly walking down the steps behind it. "Ah, Lindir!" Gandalf greeted the elve, and I turned to Dwalin next to me. "Stay sharp," I told him, who nodded and passed the message to the others. "I must speak with Lord Elrond," Gandalf told the elve, who shook his head. "My lord, Elrond is not here," he replied. "Not here? Where is he?" Gandalf, we heard the horn from earlier again and walked, clapping on the ground underneath us. We turned around and saw a large group of elves riding towards us. "Ifridî bekâr!" I yelled, raising my sword while the others surrounded me and the hobbit who got pushed inside our ranks. "Hold ranks!"I added, raising my sword a bit higher. The Elven warriors surrounded us in a double circle. "Gandalf." he greeted the wizard from his horse, who looked just like Nessa's faithful companion Brego. "Lord Elrond. Mellonnen! Mo evínedh?" he said, but I couldn't understand the last part of what he told the elve. Elrond, Lord of the Valley, replied something in Elvish I could understand before he dismounted the horse to hug the wizard, which I looked at in anger since I was still mad at the Wizard. "Strange for Orcs to come so close to our borders. Something, or someone, has drawn them near." he said now for us to understand what they talked about, showing everybody an orc sword before he passed it to the black-headed elve who greeted us first when we arrived."Ah, that may have been us." Gandalf confesses to Elrond. I stepped forward, revealing myself to the Elve Lord. "Welcome, Thorin, son of Thrain," Elrond said, but I wasn't kind to them. "I do not believe we have met," I growled back at him. I Guess Nessa would have given me a head smack by now. "You have your grandfather's bearing. I knew Thror when he ruled under the Mountain." Elrond said, but I never heard my grandfather talking about the elven Lord. "Indeed;, he made no mention of you," I replied. Elrond said something in elvish neither of us could understand, making us believe he threatened us. "What is he saying? Does he offer us an insult?" Gloin barked, making the others growl. "No, master Gloin, he's offering you food," Gandalf answered our concern. The others and I huddled together, but we were hungry and needed food. "Ah well, in that case, lead on," Gloin said, which Gandalf and Elrond did. "Thorin, may I ask you to follow me before we go and eat with the others," Elrond said, which made me frown. I followed the Elve Lord through the valley away from Gandalf, Bilbo, and the other dwarfs. "I believe you are one companion short," Elrond said, pointing to a door before us. "She is expecting you," Elrond added, so I opened the door and entered the huge room. They're on a bed with a well-known friend.
