"Are we there yet?" Y/N asked after day three of walking non-stop with one or two breaks a day. "I'm sorry, Y/N," Alexander gritted his teeth. "But no, we're not there yet. We would've been if you wouldn't have been such a pain in the a-" "Dad," Philip said, interrupting his father's outburst. They were going through a field and hadn't seen anything but long grass and trees for hours.
"We can't be that far!" Philip said, trying to make Y/N and Alexander get along. "You're right, Philip," Alexander said. "In the last city, they said Versailles was a 12-hour hike away," Alexander said, grabbing his map and looking at it for a moment. "So this friend of yours, he lives in Versailles? In the castle?" Y/N asked as they continued walking. "He used to when the French revolution was still going on," Alexander answered.
"Wait, so we're not headed to Versailles? I'm detecting some VersailLIES here!" Y/N said with a huff. "We're going to Chateau de la Grange Bleneau," Alexander said, ignoring Y/N's pun. "You can't expect people from the South to know a house in the North. Now Versailles... Everyone knows where Versailles is," Alexander said.
"So he does live in a castle," Y/N said. "It's a big house. Quit making a big deal about it. I know your boyfriend is locked up in a castle or something, but my friend wouldn't kidnap someone just for the heck of it," Alexander said and quickened his pace to get away from Y/N.
Around the fourth day, the three of them reached the house with no will-power left in them. "Well, at least now the three of us had a lot of bonding time, no?" Philip said, putting his hands on his hips as he looked at the chateau.
Y/N and Alexander were behind him and they were about to throw their bags at each other. "I think I hate you more than I already did," Y/N told Alexander with a whisper, making sure Philip didn't hear. "Oh ho ho, don't think I've warmed up to you either, you slut," Alexander sneered. "Man whore," Y/N spat back.
"Shall we go inside?" Philip asked as he turned around. "Yeah, sure, let's go," Y/N said and followed Philip to go to the door. Alexander rolled his eyes and trailed behind them. They walked under a tiny arch and walked to the biggest door. "Pops, you wanna do the honors?" Philip asked and stepped aside. "I guess so," Alexander said before grabbing the big door knocker and bashing it a few times on the metal.
It took a few seconds, but a young man came and opened the door. "Bonjour," He said a bit surprised. Alexander stared at him for a moment before saying: "Is the Marquis here?" He asked. Even more taken aback, the young man slowly turned around and yelled: "Papa! Vous avez des visiteurs!" A couple of seconds later, a tall man walked up to the door and looked at his so-called visitors.
"Hamilton?" The man said, widening his eyes. "The one and only," Alexander smiled, completely ignoring the glare his son was giving him. "It has been so long, mon ami!" The man said and stepped outside to hug his friend. "Lafayette, you don't even know," Alexander laughed and hugged him back.
"Are these your children?" Lafayette asked and looked at the two. "That one?!" Alexander asked and pointed at Y/N. "HAH! Philip, go get me some water, I need to spit it out in her face," Philip rolled his eyes. "So that's Philip, nice to finally meet you," Lafayette smiled, ignoring Alexander's insults. "And who might you be?" He asked and looked at Y/N. Before Y/N could answer, Alexander quickly said: "That's the daughter of Laurens, Y/N,"
"Daughter of John, huh?" Lafayette said and looked at Y/N. "Nice to meet you as well," Lafayette said. "Would you like to come inside?" He asked. "We'd love to, Lafayette. But we are actually visiting someone else. I wouldn't have even been able to visit you if it wasn't for her," Alexander explained and glared at Y/N. "A visitation? Where to?" Lafayette asked. "Britain," Alexander answered with a sigh. "Oof, that doesn't sound like a pleasant visitation," Lafayette said.
"I was on a ship and these two snuck on that same ship. They were caught and the captain let us off in the South of France. No idea where, didn't bother to check," Alexander said. "You walked here?" Lafayette asked and cocked his eyebrow. Alexander took a deep breath in and slowly nodded. "Okay, I get where the hatred for Y/N comes from," Lafayette admitted. Y/N looked at Philip with a 'can you believe this?' look.
"Do you need any help?" Lafayette asked. "Please," Alexander said a clasped his hands together. "Damn, being a father has really made you a softie. Come in," Lafayette said as he opened the door wider. The trio stepped inside and was hit with the immediate cold air of the chateau. The walls kept every hint of warmness out. "Follow me," Lafayette said and led them to the living room where a fireplace was burning.
"Do they know why you're going to Britain?" Lafayette asked and sat down on a couch. "They're going for their own reasons," Alexander said. "Saving a boyfriend that may or may not be trapped in the castle of the queen," He sighed. "That sounds exhilarating," Lafayette said.
"Can you get us over the border and onto a ship?" Alexander asked which made Lafayette sigh. "It's not that easy," Lafayette explained. "Oh trust me, I know. But I didn't know I had to do it," Alexander said and looked at Y/N. "Illegal travel may be the solution," Lafayette said. "Sheesh, that doesn't sound like fun," Alexander groaned and rubbed his temples. "Illegal isn't something I can afford being associated with,"
"I do have some connections at the harbor in Belgium. But you'd have to make a detour. It's also very dangerous to go there at the moment. The tension between the Netherlands and Belgium has been growing. It would be legal but more dangerous," Lafayette said. Alexander looked at Philip and Y/N and sighed.
"I guess we're going illegally then,"
