Arahz's P.O.V

It has been a week since Samuel's funeral.

We debated a few days over if we should even hold a proper funeral. Father finally insisted on it along with Y/N. If it wasn't for them, Samuel's body would've been thrown in the lake or set aflame.

After finding out that the queen was dead, father took his rightful place on the throne. The kingdom was in shock. They are still in shock. But after seeing the peaceful approaches father made, they felt at ease. The truth came to light and Y/N was revealed to be my long lost twin sister.

The discussion of who was supposed to rule after father did come up but was immediately shut down when Y/N decline any position regarding the royal crown. I suggested that she should follow a basic course of politics with me but she cast that idea aside as well.

I gave her some space and suggested that everyone should stay at the castle until everything calmed down. They all slept in their own guest rooms and mostly spent their time reflecting and enjoying the feeling of not being chased. Y/N sat outside a lot, staring at the trees.

I guess the shock of finding her family had finally settled in. I was in shock as well. Most of the time, I'd join her and we'd sit in silence. Both staring at the trees.

She had told me "I feel like a bird in a cage. They opened the cage but I'm still choosing to stay seated and birds aren't supposed to sit," I chuckled at it but it did make me think. I guess all of this just fell into her lap and she could've indeed chosen to become the new queen after father.

John and Jones decided to remain in the castle and become royal guards. "Everyone thinks I'm dead. I don't think I want to shock everyone and come back," John sighed during dinner. "I'd rather stay here and annoy Jones," He grinned. "F*ck you too, Laurens," Jones had responded and sipped at his drink.

A few days later, Alexander informed me that he, Philip, and Y/N were set to leave in a week. Even though Philip and Y/N had silently agreed to go back to America, I could sense a hint of reluctance in their voices.

So when Y/N and I were sitting outside, in the garden, I turned to her said: "You're leaving the day after tomorrow. Are you excited to see everyone again?" She almost forgot to answer as she waited a while before answering. "I guess I am," she said. "Well, Eacker is there so he'll be amazed to see me," she said, cocking her eyebrow.

"Still, it's probably amazing to go back home again," I insisted. "Y-Yeah," She reluctantly agreed. "Unless that's not what you want?" I asked which made her look at me. "I mean," She looked down and smiled. "It'd be awesome if I could just... grab a bag, stuff some clothes, some coins, and a map in there and just... leave," She admitted. "Because... I don't know what I'd do in America... Don't know what I'd do in Britain," She said. "I feel a bit homeless,"

I looked at her as she bitterly smiled. "It's not because your surname isn't what you thought it was that you aren't you anymore," I said. "Fine. Your last name isn't Laurens. Technically you don't even have a surname anymore," This made her smile fade a bit. "So go out there and make one for yourself and make sure it's yours and yours alone,"

"If you want to go out there and make yourself at home elsewhere, do that. But do know you're leaving behind someone who deeply cares about you," I told her, referring Philip. She took a deep breath and closed her eyes. "And he's lowkey very hot so-" "Okay! Okay!" She chuckled, shoving me a bit too hard for it to be playful. "Back off," She smiled as I put my hands up. "Just stating the obvious,"

"But yeah, he's pretty hot."

"Yeah, he is,"

Two days after that, the three of them stood at the harbor, ready to leave.  "Well, I guess this is farewell," Father said as he looked at the three of them. "Promise me that you'll consider visiting. You're always welcome," He smiled. "I gotta admit, George," Alexander said. "I thought about kicking you in the shin at least 75 times a day," He said. "Sounds accurate," father nodded. "But you're good in my book," Alexander said, holding out his hand which father shook. He also shook Philip's hand before turning to Y/N.

"Farewell, Y/N," He said, putting his hand on her shoulder. "Don't give me that, come here," She smiled, grabbing him and giving him a firm hug. He hugged her back, ruffling his hand through her hair. "I'll miss you," He said.

Meanwhile, I turned to Philip. "So, I'll see you again, I presume," I said. "Of course," He grinned. "Also, if you're going to ask out my sister," I started which made his eyes widen. "Try being yourself instead of putting up a facade. I found your company much more enjoyable when you were being real with me," I recommended. "Well, that's better advise than Thomas has ever given me," He mumbled under his breath.

"However, if that doesn't work out. You know where to find me," I said with a wink. "Noted," Philip nodded.

"Philip! The captain said we should get on board!" Alexander yelled from the other side of the dock. "Right! Well, I'll see you soon," Philip said, reaching out his hand. "Hey, if she's getting a hug, I want a hug as well," I said, dismissing his hand and reaching in for a hug. Two seconds into the hug, I felt someone hug me from behind. I looked over my shoulder and saw Y/N. "Group hug!" She smiled. I rolled my eyes but threw an arm around her and included her in the hug.

"CHILDREN!" Alexander shrieked. "COME HERE RIGHT NOW BEFORE I THROW THIS ANKER AT YOUR FACES!"

"Pops! No! Not again!" Philip said and ran over to his father. Before Y/N hurried after him, I called out: "Hey Y/N," She turned around with expecting eyes. "Good luck," I said with a nod. "Thank you," Y/N smiled before walking behind Philip.

I saw her approach the boat and look at the distance she had to hop to get onboard. "Y/N," Philip said, who had already gotten on board. He reached out his hand so he could help her get on. "Take my hand," He said. The last thing I saw before I turned around and walked back to my horse was Y/N take his hand as she let herself get pulled on the boat by Philip.

"Sir,"

Thomas looked up from the newspaper he was reading. "What is it?" He asked, slowly putting it down to look at the gardener who had entered his office. "You have to see this," The gardener insisted. So Thomas got up and followed the gardener outside. They walked through his big garden until they stopped at the rose bushes.

"Remember that the roses withered and whatever we did, they wouldn't grow again?" The gardener asked as he approached them. "Yes. They've been like that for half a year now. Ever since that party that ended in a dreadful disaster. Don't remind me," Thomas sighed as he took a look at the bushes.

But Thomas widened his eyes as he saw that the roses were in full bloom again. They had never been so red nor vibrant. They almost looked like candy which you could pluck right off and eat on the spot.

"It's so weird! We didn't do anything new. We used the same soil and fertilizer. It's almost a miracle," The gardener explained as Thomas mindlessly stared at the roses.

"Yeah. A miracle,"
