It was one September morning and Maya's alarm clock went off.
She hits it so it can be snoozed and opens her eyes.
She wasn't looking forward to any of this.
She definitely wasn't planning on getting up so early but with a child she has to.
Maya sits up just to face a picture of her and Josh next to her bed stand.
Tears comes out of her eyes as she knows the guy she knew back then she'll have to face once again.
But when and how?

Maya gets out from bed and head straight to a room just across her.
The room is still a bit dark and Maya puts on the light.
A little girl is fast asleep in a bed and Maya smiles.
She goes to sit down on the bed and takes a strand of hair out of the girl's face.
Instantly blue eyes looks straight at Maya.

"Morning Baby Girl," Maya said.
"Mama," Scarlette said and sits up.
"School?" she asks and Maya nodds.
"Yeah Sweetheart. Listen why don't you get dressed then I'll see what we're having for breakfast?" Maya said.
"Okay."

Maya gives the seven year old a kiss on her head before she heads to the kitchen.
She puts a pot of oats up on the stove and then puts the kettle on.
As everything is getting ready Scarlette comes out of her room.

She is wearing shorts, a T-shirt and a pair of sandals.
Maya laughs at her child as she can just smile.

"Sweetie you know it's September? Come let's see what you have," Maya said as she takes her hand and heads to her bedroom.

She puts out a pair of leggings, a shirt, a skirt and just some slip-ons.

"Get dressed while Mommy finishes breakfast."

Maya gets everything done and then the two girls eat.
They don't live very fancy.
They stay in a three bedroom apartment very similar to Cory's one.
But what more can you need?
After Maya had Scarlette her mom took care of her as she went to school and worked in the afternoons.
When she finished high school she got back into a schedule of taking care of her baby while working part time.
When back to school came she went to NYU and surprisingly got her degree in Photography in June.
Now she can work full time while Scarlette is at school.
All thanks to Shawn Hunter who helped Maya get a job at his business.
But why wouldn't he?
Maya is his step-daughter.

The two girls finished eating and then Maya put the dishes away.
She put on a cartoon for Scarlette while she got ready.
She put on a red dress with some blue heels.
She quickly did her make-up and put her hair up in a ponytail.

Maya went back in front and did Scarlette's hair then she packed the little one's backpack.
After that both brushed their teeth and Maya took Scarlette to school.
