The hike up Jebibong Mountain in South Korea had seemed like a good idea, but now the trail forked in two directions and it was unclear which path to take.
Pausing for a minute, you stopped to enjoy the fresh air on the Saturday morning in April. You turned away from the sign to take in your surroundings: the lush forest all around you, the mountain peak climbing into the sky above you, the other mountains off in the distance, the early morning fog draped over the valley like a warm blanket. It truly was beautiful.

It made you happy to finally be living here in South Korea. You'd decided to take a gap year from college and found work teaching ESL in Seoul. It was your first week here, and since you didn't really have any friends yet you decided to get out and explore the country.
You turned back to the trail sign where you noticed a fit looking girl with blonde hair in a ponytail looking at it as well.
"Hello - I mean Annyeonghasayo" you said cringing, trying to make use of your very limited Korean.
"Hello" she replied cheerfully, "don't worry, I speak English."
The girl was wearing a mask so you couldn't see her face, but you could see her eyes, and you could tell she was smiling underneath.
