Still kissing passionately, you picked her up out of the water and she held on, wrapping her legs around you and putting her arms behind your neck. You were both so caught up in the moment that you weren't even thinking about what this might mean.

Suddenly it dawned on her and she pulled back, eyes wide with shock.

"Oh! I - I'm sorry (y/n), I'm really sorry, we shouldn't have done that" she said, letting go of you. You were dumfounded.

"Wha - "

"It's not your fault, it's my fault, I shouldn't have let this happen, I'm so so sorry. Please, please don't think it's because of you... it's not, it's me.. I just can't..." she looked down in shame, struggling to explain herself.

She took a step back, then quickly got out of the water and walked back towards the picnic spot. What the hell just happened, you thought. Maybe kissing her had crossed the line of your friendship. But it didn't make sense... she was so into it just a minute ago.

"Wait up Rosie, what's wrong?" you said as you got up and went after her.
The least you deserved was an explanation. You went over to where she was sitting on the blanket, shivering. You expected her be annoyed or brush you off, but you were surprised to her looking at you with genuine concern.

"Look, Rosie, I'm really sorry if I messed things up -"

"You did nothing wrong" she said, "It's my fault, I shouldn't have let this happen. I swore I wouldn't let myself fall for you. It's so unfair for you..."

You were bewildered. "I really don't understand, why is it unfair for me?"

She sighed and stared off into the distance, looking lonely again.

"(Y/n), think about it. I barely get to see you as it is. In a few days we'll be on our world tour and I won't be able to see you for almost a year. We can't start a relationship now. I shouldn't have given you false hope like that."

You weren't convinced it was just because of the tour. "No I get it, I know me and you could never work. You're Rosé, you can't be seen with someone like me."

"(Y/n)! No, no, that's not it at all! Please don't think that!" she said desperately. You raised an eyebrow.

She explained, "To tell the truth I like you (y/n), I have for a while, and I want to be seen with you. But I can't drag you into this. I told you what the life of an idol is like - it's a prison, and once you're in you can't get out. I want you to enjoy your freedom. And that just isn't possible if you're with me."

"I understand Rosie, but why should you have to go through that alone? I like you too - every minute I've spent with you has been special. Even if it gets rough I want to be by your side through it all."

"I know you do (y/n), and I wish you could be, but you don't understand what it's like to live without freedom. I care about you too much to let that happen to you. When I said I wouldn't let myself fall for you it wasn't because I didn't want to - because believe me I did - it was because I wanted to protect you" she said, looking at you with teary eyes.

You knew she was sincere - you had that bond where you could almost read each other's minds when you made eye contact. She had a big heart to put your interests ahead of hers, but it still cut like a knife to hear that; the girl of your dreams actually liked you, but you couldn't have her.

You and her sat there in silence for a minute. You noticed she was still shivering, so you got her towel and wrapped it around her shoulders.

She looked at you with her sad puppy eyes. "I'm sorry (y/n), I wish it wasn't like this."
