I ran faster then I ever thought I actually could but it was too late with the building crashing down. I could hear the screams from above in the building as it was caving in. I could see my way out, daylight? The first time I'd seen it in what seemed like forever. Something hit my head, everyone went silent then the light faded into nothingness. It all seemed so cold like the bitter taste of winter ready to release a storm. I wasn't going to be helped, I wasn't going to be saved...
I was going to die. The world isn't a bright warm place anymore, it's dark and cold and bitter, you fear for your life every time you leave your house. I knew I one day I was going to die because of my work, I just didn't know today was going to be it. Although I couldn't hear anything anymore I could feel the shakiness of the ground and the pool of wet I was laying in. I lifted my hand to see the beautiful shade of red that coated my hand. I watched it, almost playing with it as it ran down my fingers. It seemed so soft as it dripped down onto the floor, I looked down to follow it but I couldn't see it just my hand fading into the black ibis.
I blinked only a few times knowing there was no point in thinking of an escape, there is no point in anything except waiting... Breathing got harder the light was totally gone. My mind was lost a long time ago. And my hope was murdered before I was born.
