3rd person POV
East Atlanta,Gresham road
Namjoon sighed as he leaned his head back against the glass panel of the big black shelf that held all kinds of tobaco products. He looked down fiddling with the red sting around his wrist taking in the eerie silence of the conviene store.
Namjoon worked in the convince his family had owned in Gresham park for nearly 3 generations. He was literally the only 'foreigner' in his neighborhood.
It had its perks though, being thrusted into black culture was pretty amusing. The music, the food, the parties, the slang. It really helped him in school though, when kids would talk to him and try to come for his race he'd bust a whole verse from young nudys new album. What great duality. He didn't really mind it though, he loved his neighbors as much as they loved him.
Everyone in the neighborhood loved the little korean grocery store right on the corner. As of now though, the moment wasn't ideal. Namjoon really. Really. REALLY. Did not want to be spending his summer evening watching over Kim's convenient store at 1 am.
He had things to do! Those things being...getting high..and playing 2k...but still important things the 17 year old would consider.
"I don't get paid enough for this shit" Namjoon huffed out running his hands over his baseball cap stretching at the same time. Surprisingly, the corner store was deserted, the only sound being the whirling of the fan in the corner and the low static of the radio in the corner Namjoon didn't bother fixing.
"Mane everyone out there prolly having fun and I'm stuck here in this bitch" Namjoon complained was he grabbed a crate sitting by his feet that held boxes of snacks like chocolate and chips as he began to restock.
Namjoon was In his own little world not paying attention to the sudden presence in the convenient store. Namjoon looked up and spotted a familiar face as he shyly smiled to himself.
Y/n l/n. Hands down the most beautiful girl in namjoons grade. He'd had a crush on her ever since the 7th grade. He'd always thought he wasnt her type. To be honest he didn't even know if she had a type, she kept to herself a lot and didn't really speak, but when she did she never failed to make everyone fall out in laughter. Despite her closed off persona, she still managed to turn heads wherever she went.
Y/n walked into the quiet convenient store. The black hoodie she wore hung loosely around her head as she walked into the practically deserted store. Shuffling was heard as y/n peeked her head around the corner seeing Namjoon, the youngest son and grandson of the kims.
"Oh w-welcome" Namjoon said suddenly causing y/n to jump a bit as she smiled.
"Hi...why are you working on a Friday night? You're parents normally run the store on nights like this" y/n said slyly as she picked up a small bag of chips easing it into the pocket of her sweatshirt.
Namjoon shrugged "date night" he said as y/n nodded as Namjoon smiled.
"Well just let me know when you're ready to check out" Namjoon said turning around to finish what he was doing. While his back was turned, y/n quickly grabbed a king sized hunny bun along with 2 packets of sweet tart ropes and a king sized Kit Kat shoving it into her pocket quietly, as she made her way to the freezer isle picking up an Arizona green tea.
She smiled sneakily thanking god her sweatshirt was big enough to hold everything as she took her tea up to the register.
Namjoon smiled as he made his way to the register as he rung up the tea.
"That's it?" Namjoon asked as y/n nodded."Alright $1.50" Namjoon said as y/n began to hand him the money, only for Namjoon to grip her wrist bringing her body a little closer to his from across the counter.
Y/n winced a bit as the sharp corners of the counter dug into her abdomen, forcing her eyes to meet namjoons.
Namjoon leaned into y/n's ear causing her to jump as he laughed.
"You either put it back or pay up" Namjoon said stoically as he let go of y/n standing back up to his full height crossing his arms.
Y/n frowned as she raised an eyebrow, rubbing the spot of skin were the counter had pushed against.
"What do you mean, I only go-" she began to say as Namjoon put his hand up signaling her to stop talking as he walked around the counter grabbing the pocket of her sweatshirt pulling out the stuff that was in the pocket.
"Next time don't make it so obvious, you were way to jumpy" Namjoon snorted putting the unpaid for items on the counter as he leaned back.
Y/n ran a hand down her face as she looked up at Namjoon, stress written all over her face.
"Namjoon-" y/n began to say as he looked at her.
"Just tell me why" Namjoon said as y/n bit her lip looking away.
".......My stepmom kicked me out the house...my dads out one of his long haul shipment calls.... he left two weeks ago,he should be back by May....but anyway,I didn't cook dinner for my stepmom and her little spoiled ass daughter so she kicked me out...I couldn't call my dad since his company doesn't like them to be on the phone on the road and she left me with no money and I'm starving" y/n admitted as Namjoon nodded.
"How long you been out the house?" Namjoon asked as y/n rolled her eyes trying to prevent the tears from falling down her face.
"A week" she said making Namjoon go wide eyed.
"A week? Where you been staying at then" Namjoon asked as he stepped closer to the crying girl bringing her in for a hug.
"A friends...she was sneaking me in and I could only stay for so long" y/n croaked out crying into the males chest.
Namjoon sighed as he pulled away looking at y/n, her face swollen, wet and puffy from crying as he looked at her.
".....you can stay with us for a while" Namjoon said as y/n looked at him wide eyed wiping her tears shaking her head furiously.
"Namjoon no! What would your parents and grandparents say!" y/n said as Namjoon laughed.
"Trust me they'd be more than happy to bring you in, it's a house full of boys, my mom always wanted a girl to spoil same with my grandma you'll be fine." Namjoon said truthfully as he patted y/n on the back smiling.
She looked at him biting her lip as she sighed.
"It's official I am now completely, desperately and utterly in love with you" y/n said suddenly shrugging as she leaned back onto the counter nonchalantly as she looked up at Namjoon.
Namjoon stopped everything he was doing as he looked at her wide eyed in shock.
"Excuse me what"Namjoon said as he turned around swiftly looking at y/n as he watched her shrug.
"I'm in love with you been that way since...mmhmn...I think 8th grade? Yeah 8th grade...you remember that time where you rung me up and I was short a dollar and you paid for it?yeah..ive been in love with you ever since" y/n said boredly as she messed with a pair of sunglasses on the counter.
Namjoon stood there shocked as he gawked at the younger girl.
"Since 8th grade..." Namjoon repeated as y/n nodded putting the galsses back.
"Yep...now can we go? I'm really tired and I kinda wanna cuddle with you" she said confidently as she began to leave the store.
Namjoon stared after he a small smirk playing on his face as he shook his head.
'This is gonna be interesting'
